Radio Shack used to put coupons for free flashlights on some of the flyers they sent to people who gave their addresses.
AFAIK, RS was honest in its policy of not selling/sharing the lists, which is more than can be said for other companies.
RS is an easy target for jokes, but they are actually a pretty good company to their employees, stockholders, and customers. Plus, they brought us the TRS-80 in which for its day was revolutionary.
"There are not two microphones in that headset - that would just make it worse, since no PC it would run on is real time enough to match the sound samples together, etc, etc, etc."
I agree that they simply open the back of the mic, but you wouldn't need a processor to do it with two one-sided mics. Just combine the two signals with the polarity reversed.
The innovation has nothing to do with the external connections.
The interesting thing about this switch is that, internally, it routes photons instead of electrons.
Once it sets up a connection, e.g. port-5 to port 17, the photons can "just go". In other words, there are no capacitors(wires) and gates(transistors) to slow things down.
I wouldn't try to hack this thing and arm him like Robocop, but what the hell, I'd let one roam my house and report on abmnormalities. I'll give $100... or is that 10,000 yen?
because it made it a little easier to get a turn at the other games at the arcade.
Sure, I ponied up a few bucks to try it when it came out, but I gave it a quick thumbs down and went back to Asteroids and Defender. I'm really surprised to hear that so many/.ers found DL interesting.
The gameplay on DL was so primitive it reminded me of my little brother's 2XL 8-track based "robot". Enter move, wait for the drive to seek, enter move, etc. As for the graphics, so what. It's not like they were computer generated, not in realtime anyway.
"Delete any of the X11 poop if it somehow got installed"
He should leave it installed unless disk space or security are the issue. Even if he can't afford the ram/cycles to run an X server, he can display apps remotely when he needs to. But really, he should install some more RAM and give the poor disk drive a break.

I'm with ya. I voted for Nader.
Still, I like my "pie in the face" idea. It couldn't be just one guy though. It'd have to be, like a whole bunch of people with pies. Then the media could report daily pie statistics. I think that would be very good.
Sorry for the broken URL. Try this one.
You sure about that?
Yes. Before they were red, the cheapo dry cells were gold and white. They even made a radio that looked like the D cell.

"those old red RS batteries"
You young whippersnapper. The real old ones were gold and white! The red ones were new and improved.

Really Mr. Jones, you endorse these people? Your credibility just went to 0.
The original VAX model, the 11/780 was one MIPS. Dec called it 1 VUP (Vax Unit of Performance).
.6 VUP, but it really screemed once they installed the 2nd MB of RAM!

So the question is, "Can I buy a $10 argument?"
Is there a limit on the amount each side can spend to make their case in "loser pays" jurisdictions?
Only an idiot would sit down to a no-limit poker game against Bill Gates or the Walton family.

Good one! That makes step 4 a cakewalk.

Cool! Can I trade-in my DIVX player for it?

Do you have a working config for plugger/mplayer? I had no luck last time i tried.
Is there a way to have plugger just save the stream to disk?
Here in the US, we call it a joke.
