why don't the python folks just code an option to make it available by e.g. a pragma at the top of a file?
no way, cuz that would (very bluntly) really "fuck shit up". forcing style and good code formatting is for once forced into the language. why should good style be a "showstopper"?
python gets a better rep than complete messes such as perl becuz of this. if you're gonna be hacking on someone's python code, you can be 90% certain that it's gonna be readable and understandable.
it's not zealotry, it's the Right Thing, and it's a desire to put a dent in one of the fundamental problems regarding code portability and reuse: bad style.
it's funny to me how all of this crap is so irrelevant to my life. i have no bank accounts, no credit cards, no speedpasses, no debit cards, no nothing. i use cash, and that's it.
i don't even own a personal computer, at the moment.
i have a minivan, a wallet, and a mind and body free of govt/corporate interference.
(i do have an IRA, however i gave them a non-existent address)
i'm sure someone has mentioned going to 7-11 (or walmart, or kmart, or about any place else) and getting a tracfone, for which you buy cards and add minutes. problem with this is you'll be tied to a particular area (unless you want to change the number every time you go someplace else). it's horribly expensive, and roaming minutes are double.
i've had luck with att wireless (gophone), you can get those for fairly cheap (US$80) and it's not such a bad deal, like some limited number of anytime minutes, free nights (after 9) and weekends.
i know people who use the virgin mobile phones, which seem to not be so bad either, so you might want to check that out.
all of these are available at walmart, which seem to be everywhere you turn around.
i was under the assumption (i read this somewhere today, can't find it now) that the "water" was just bound into minerals, possibly like gypsum or something.
im not so skeptical...but FWIW, having public access to the raw data wouldn't be such a bad idea, since all of this is taxpayer funded.

bs. a new programmer should have to worry about everything that is going to affect the readability of his code in the future when he's an advanced programmer.
it's hard, very hard to break the bad habits instilled in "new" programmers. get em while they're young. that's why i like the fact that python *forces* good form and whitespace. just the notion that it won't work if it's not properly formatted will carry over to other languages when someone moves on to another language, and good style will as well.
understanding the difference between tabs and spaces isn't something too hard for anyone attempting to learn a programming language to tackle.
the parent is gonna get un-modded for this, but i just had to say something...
education yes, travel - possibly not. travel, at least outside of the US is not only expensive, but sometimes just "too damn weird" for a lot of americans.
education however, is cheap - especially when people seek it out for themselves.
and learning about the global culture usually leads to a desire to experience it in person.
but what if i "forgot" the passphrase? what if it was stored in a hardware key that they didn't find or was stored elsewhere?
would invoking the 5th amendment at this point fly? i mean, if the answer is in my head, they can't really seize that now can they?
good idea. could one be charged with obstructing justice or something similar if the target data of a search warrant was encrypted so strongly?
"Sorry, your browser is not Win32 compatible"
no, we wouldn't :)
considering the american justice system, 1/2 of them would turn out to be innocent anyhow...
and one hell of a life insurance policy.
in all seriousness, would it be possible to pick up earth television signals with any amount of clarity?
all of you had better shut up...
:)
loose lips sink ships, and could really fuck with a glorified RC car on mars, too.
so shhh...
i was gonna buy it...
but now that i don't have to pay for it, it'll be even cheaper to move from IIS to *nix. Yay!
hey, my dad removed SP4 from win2k cuz his keyboard volume control quit working

you should get some whore points too, cuz i didn't notice that :)
like everyone else who read the review, i wanna play this game. apparently there's a free (beer) version to play here:

"At 266 nm it gives a very good clean cut, although going deeper than 10 mm is difficult."
make it slice chunks from a 20 lb wheel of baby swiss, and i'll be happy. 10mm thick cheese is not that impressive.
i (and the previous poster, i believe) was referring to a raw data stream, along with specs, to be decoded and verified independently.

am i alone in thinking this is another "just becuz we can" technology?
just imagine, if all those mac guys and gals are just 3%, can you even fathom how large the other 97% of the pc userbase is?
point is, if they're dumping money into - they're gonna use it for something eventually.
