    So, as Stratton put it "when you're running the game, you're running the editor." What this means is that you'll be able to walk around in a level, press a key, bring up the editor, place some lights, and go back to the level. It seems the old .BSP process is gone

    that would be bloody fantasic, but I have a nasty feeling this game will lead to a big hole in my walit.

    Wonder round a badly made 3D world, where people would try to talk to you, but you all really longed for a chain saw...

    X11 imposes no constraints on the toolkits

    Thats why, it's not X, but the lack of standard toolkits.
    In joe-user mode, I want a standard look&feel across all my apps, if all the developers started using either KDE or GNOME, or if KDE & GNOME joined forces to create a standard toolkit for X, which everyone used then it would be fine. But instead every soddy app works complete differntly.

    VPC also have an x86 version (which she mentions in the article).

    So I'm not quite sure what the point of this article was. Someone want to fill me in?

    To compare three products that all let you do the same thing, run an x86 os on an x86 system.

    VPC on x86 seems kind of pointless... why dink around with software emulation to run multiple OSes when you can just get one of those removable HD bays and swap actual hard drives in and out with different OSes on them?
    Yes, as I can test a Linux set up while writing the word document with that.
    Ohh wait, no I can't, I have to reboot every few mins, to flip between Windows & Linux!

    Not with a well designed system.
    Interfaces, great things.
    So MS say if you want your browser to be swappable middleware, you make sure you do x, y and z.

    It works well for Java ;)

    But yea, this is a silly point, why not attack MS on points that matter, like the boot issue, or the new liences :)

    Hmmm... I wonder if anyone has tried to use WINE to run Win95 on Linux!
    Wine IS a copy of Windows.

    Now, running Win95 in DOSEMU would be intersting.

    I have to ask, but why not?
    If I set up a box which always shared the source would it? (as then it's no diff than a web server, but the dl would be mirrored).

    Why not just stick Linux [ http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-7110/ ](or BSD [lost the URL] ) on a Psion [ http://www.psion.co.uk ].
    They are out NOW, low in price and come with a keyboard! :)
