I wasn't aware that you didn't need to pay for a license for streaming. I don't have a TV; but I did get a license for iplayer. To be honest, I don't begrudge them a penny. Iplayer is great I wish they had more old content on line to watch. I'll pay next year.
Just say it's really far away. or really really really really really really far away. The amount of really hasn't been standardised; but more than two is lots of away.
I get the point about coins being tangible. but the feeling of tangible can change. When I lived in Japan, at first holding a hand full'o' Yen didn't feel like real money. After several months, i returned home and the Pound no longer felt like real money; but I was still familiar with it.
When I go back to japan the Yen seems like proper money. I've complete broken the more tangible link in my brain. Money for me = How many hours work Vs how much beer can I buy. If that stays constant then everything is cool and I don't have to panic:)
Thank you all for your very interesting answers. When I find the right app and situation I'll get one; but until those start cross or the price drops immensely save my cash for another day. I liked the medical use. With no filthy keyboard attached I can see those being of great use around a hospital.
I'll have to join in here too.
I've looked at getting a tablet and so far I cannot see them as being a tool for being productive or very good at games more complex than Angry Birds. I can't see the reason why I need to own one yet. The ipads are a lot of money for an interactive web screen. Plus all the commuter I see holding them on the train look really uncomfortable especially when typing with them on their knee.
So my genuine question is to people reading this is: How are they better than a laptop day-to-day? Or are they just what they seem to be - a really cool gadget to read pages, use basic media and write short comments.
I wonder if they'll say TPB made the biggest impact in changing the business model?
Back, so long ago when the ipod came out Archos were making much better spec units with ogg and other bits. But they just don't have the marketing or designer wank Apple can muster. I've just had a look at their website and apples stuff looks so much better. I'm sure Archos are all a bit better spec and cheaper - but who cares. Both still better than creative and that's about it.
As a Brit reading this, I see it as deliberately trying to diminishing the capability of the US work force. How many great accomplishments would have been impossible if it were not for your nations commitment to science. To be able take the sum of the worlds knowledge and put a man on the moon is wonderful.
China (or any other industrial nation) isn't going to put itself back into the dark ages and I'm sure they'll be happy to take advantage and will continue to invest in as much science as they can.
So regardless of religion, at some point (or at what point does) the doctrine have a detrimental effect to a nation and become Anti-american or unpatriotic ? I really hope British cynicism will keep such topics confined to awful daytime TV discussion shows and not in the real world./rant over.
Considering the about of money and people wrapped up in it, I think it's fair to say it's an industry. You don't want the education "product" to be treated as one size fits all. And of course you don't want drone teachers - but the whole support system to get the best education could benefit from lessons learned from other industries. The administration staff in all the school I've dealt with so far have been awful.
How about this - when you go into a "needed" career. You get massive tax breaks. All nurses will be exempt from vat/saletax after x years of service. A system open to abuse I guess. But so it any tax system.
Well I'll admit Akihabra isn't as fun as it used to be 10+ years ago. But I can still spend hours looking at all the wonderful "crap" they sell in Yodobashi Camera*. A lot of Japanese day to day things are a lot better than the stuff we get in the UK. (Mind you, it could be UK stuff is shite. Apart from Tea, you can't decent cup outside Blighty)

Chilled Monkey Brains - You can get a few fatal diseases from eating the brains and nerve tissue, and from a lot of animals too. So chilled monkey brains is off the menu.
:( Fair point well made. Here -> Canary Wharf, London - Fullers
I can't stand the term apps. You're post means I now have to go to the pub(s) after work and drink a Friday worth.I didn't want to go. But now I must.
That's a fair rant. I'm sure the answer is a very bureaucratic reason.
answer the questions - yes or no.

This site lacks the "like" function. So +1 Like from me.
I'd be interested in that. That size wont mess about with the huge planet at all. At what scale does it start to cause a problem?

As every worm that ever crossed my young self will contest to.

Amazon will get a book award next week. Man opens a record shop, wins Grammy doesn't see right.

And as we all know - If they have noting to hide, then they have nothing to worry about :)
And they'll kill your dog when they do it.
