I always thought if you added up the worlds extra CPU use just for encrypting/decrypting. The amount of power needed would cause so much CO2 that every country would ban it on the spot. DRM is bad for the planet!
You do not need to spend $1,000 on a machine to be on par with a PS3. Very cheap budget bits will match it.
If you include a decent TV and surround sound system to use the PS3, then the costs go over $1,000 in no time.
I've bought a new graphics card for £200 two weeks ago. Out of interest, I re-installed Oblivion to see the difference. I can now play it in 1080p with everything maxed. I even downloaded the better texture mods. The game looks great and I although I didn't intend to do anything other than look about. I'm right back into playing it. - You can't to that with a console.
Well they can't do 1080p yet. So it's true for a few weeks more. Then after that some guy will write a 3D extension and soon after a 2k and 4k extension will be made - not that you can view it on a standard monitor; but that's not the point. All the videos want to be set free.
If light cannot penetrate a field, does that mean that what is inside the field cannot be seen? You'd not be able to see the other side of it, so it won't be invisible.I'm not too sure what you'd see - My mind hurts - not much pain - but enuff(sic).
A bit like nursing a person back to full health, just to hang them. Of course it costs more money; but that money does go towards a lot of jobs. It's fake economy employment money.
There are a lot of old games that are still much better than the new games they bring out each year. Better yet, there are still companies that role out good games with no DRM. When I run out of games to play, I'll just have to do something else with my time. I do not view the GP as a troll. It's a fair comment.
Because someone has to do it first to prove that there is a market to go to. It's a business case. MS wouldn't have made the Xbox; but as a few other companies were doing very nicely thank you very much. Management and marketing had a business case with good numbers and wanted a bit of the action.
Henry Ford said "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse". MS would have given them the horse. It's a sound business choice. I'm sure there is a lot of office politics between the good idea and the money. The person that can get the money wins, not the best idea.
This sounds like a John Lasseter I saw ages ago. Those guys are scientists not 3D artists. They can't see why it's wrong. It's job done when the maths work. I've not idea why they don't hire in a guy, most of these problems have been identified and fixed in the pre-rendered market years ago. Maybe extra lights kills the frame rate too much.
The worst example of 3D I've seen so far would be the "shadows on a mirror" trick - nice.
I'm sure "they" asked for 3 designs. So the designer did just that.
1st) Designer pretentious wank, (The one he loved).
2nd) Standard Corporate Beige (the one they'll pick).
3rd) An awful one (they'll never want this one).
Management/"they" didn't like the pretentious one; but didn't want to be seen playing safe with the 2nd one. So what could they pick? The 3rd mental design. Never design a "they'll never want this one" - They always want that one..
Use solar power to drive the LEDs. The more off grid you can be the better. Not for any "green" reasons, It is just nice not to give the power companies any more money
Mind you, all the bits have to be made in a factory some where so just how "green" this all is is another matter. Once you start charging a dirty car battery who know????
Darwin Awards starter kit.
I'd happy for a train (doesn't have to leave on time) and a few times a month, a seat!
How long to do the Kessel run?

So It's just as invisible as a black wall? Doesn't seem very good. Just buy a tin of paint and have done with it.
Let me unfix that for you - DIMM module's

Well done!
If they did, you would need a live account. I think that would stop 90-99% of the people that post here from playing it.
Deal.

Apple have the "designer wank" tag and the ability to go forth and make a market. MS doesn't.
I agree the xbox wasn't the best money spinner.

Yeap, I agree... It's going to take a lot more money, CPU power and skill to beat the Uncanny Valley. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley

add the sales tax and the import and export duty on top too. :(
