Not only have I played many games that shouldn't have gone to market, but I've worked on a lot of them that REALLY shouldn't have gone out. Unfortunately, being a lowly game tester, my opinion doesn't seem to matter all that much.
Just because they say they're going to milk the PS2 for another 6 years doesn't mean that they aren't going to be putting out the PS3. All it said was that they aren't going to speed up the PS3 release because of the XBox2.
I still play PS1 games (and Genesis and SNES and so forth), and stores still sell PS1 games, and I'm pretty sure that there are a few PS1 games still being made (albiet rare). And I fully intend to continue playing the games I have on my PS2 (and the games still to be released) for plenty of more years, including after the PS3 is out (and probably the PS4, PS5, and so on).
The main difference between game testing and other jobs is that with other jobs everyone basically knows that they're work and not all fun and games, whereas with game testing everyone typically assumes that it IS all fun and games. I've been a game tester for the last six months until I was laid off last month, and believe me it definitely isn't all fun and games.
That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it more than most other jobs, and I'm going to the GDC the rest of this week to see about finding another job in testing. But it's still most definitely not all fun and games.
The cost of NOT getting this diamond ring may be the relationship itself.
If someone is SO materialistic so as to BREAK OFF a relationship that is leading to marriage just because they don't get a diamond ring, then there's a decent chance that they're probably not worth the relationship in the first place.
I happen to really believe in commitment, and someone who would break off a relationship that is that serious for a reason such as this, just doesn't seem like they are committed to the relationship themselves.
There's no evidence to say that he didn't report it immediately. He could have reported it the day he discovered it, and it just took 10 days for the meeting to be set up. This IS beauracracy we're talking about, after all...
What I want to know is, why does the plaque showing humanity in all its naked glory have the man waving hello? How are aliens supposed to interpret this? For all we know that could be the intergalactic symbol for 'come and eat my species, we taste really yummy'...
Yeah, they should have inscribed the Universal Greeting from Transformers instead: "Bah Weep Granah Weep Ni Ni Bong."
I would tend to say that Catan is actually zero-sum. Whenever a land is rolled, if you have a settlement or city on it and someone else does, you gain, but they effectively lose because you are more able to build and restrict their actions.
That being said, I finally was able to try out Cities & Knights of Catan last night, and I must recommend it for anyone who enjoys Catan.
