There are a lot of those groups in Idaho. When someone contracts a disease like measles, the family invites all the extended family and friends over to "say goodbye" because they won't perform any medical treatment.
So sad this happens to kids that have no choice. I've met teenagers that "sneak away" to get medical help and medicine just to survive.
I came here expecting the first post to be about etching goatse on glass for future generations to enjoy. Yet not a single post that my simple search found.
With Bitcoin, you're validating transactions. For this distributed ledger of voting, you are only recording each vote and hopefully not transferring votes between wallets.
The concept of "the machine 'learns' what I like/dislike by showing me more/less of those items after I rate them" behavior is concerning in the context of free-form information. In the case of Netflix, it's great, as that is entertainment. But as more and more people consume *information* from social media sources using algorithms like this, it will further divide society.
Soon everyone will only see "news" they agree with, instead of muti-faceted stories and derive their own opinions.
Ye who controls the algorithms will soon drive public opinion.
Same way you "trust" a corporation that was hacked to secure their shit in the future? All depends on the company, some you keep trusting and some you don't.
Just like a biological life form getting an infection - stronger if you can heal and not die.
Governments producing children using extracted DNA.
Governments or corporations may want to stealthily grow a genetically advanced army using artificial wombs. Some scientists may also want to grow chimeras using artificial wombs as the fetus + eventual birth may be dangerous to the human surrogate.
This sounds like fancy layers of firewalls for appy app apps: route traffic through TOR, prohibit certain types of malware, trust some versions of binary apps to not change.
Dnsmasq using an amended hosts file FTW. Point your router DNS to a linux box if necessary. Then all devices covered.
Mosaic was amazing for its time. Wasteful tool bar at top, but a pretty sweet graphic while loading.

What was your other hand doing?
Depends on the game. I can play Open Arena fairly well without a mouse, but I must plan my shots much more carefully.

Sad.
I also use FF daily on Android. Unsure how anyone could deal with Chrome on mobile. Slow and terrible.

It's only kinky the first time.
That's no excuse for atrocious spelling. Please don't post anywhere if you cannot re-read before hitting 'submit'.

I thought today's slashdotter is a typical mac user.
(old meme, but still relevant)
The difference is you need to buy something new for the same functionality.
Consumerism as slightly more subtle use. 2 people with ear buds instead of holding their phones while talking.
As silly as it seems, this is the most insightful and concise post on this entire thread.
So if you buy a product elsewhere, are you really going to visit Amazon, search for your exact item, and fill out a detailed review?
Using interfaces with a single implementation is MORE code maintenance!
If you have multiple implementations, then refactor into an interface (which is trivial with the right tools), but until then keep it simple, stupid.

What if all Alexa voice queries were actually farmed out to Mechanical Turk?!

Exactly. All the great extensions will be gone.
How does anyone survive with tabs on the top? Even on a portrait monitor, I have tabs on the side. Grouped, colored, trees of tabs...
Of course. This won't prohibit location tracking.

Correct!
I do not like my text-based emoticons being converted into image-based emoji.

How else can one enjoy a cockboat?
And nothing of value was lost.
I might be old school, but I loathe any software that auto-converts text-based emoji into pictures.
Luckily, writing them "left handed" usually keeps them plain text:
:-) => (-:
:-P => d-:
:-O => O-:
prevents the phone from fitting into older cases
That is done on purpose - gotta keep the accessory market going.
