Yes, the corporations that no longer have billions coming in will layoff all those people that stopped buying from them in the first place. The unemployment rate sky rockets, tax revenues decrease, as well as a multitude of other nasty things.
Don't get me wrong, I think the gov needs to stop the subsidies, kill off the tax loopholes, and heavily regulate some of these businesses like OIL.
Oh wait... they are already doing it in and around Atlanta.. The article is really talking about the enhanced system they are working to put into place. My contention is thus: the systems aren't working as they are, Atlanta is notorious for half-assing everything, so this implementation will be as well. It's not going to increase a conviction rate and even if it were to do so, the damn jail is over capacity as is -> [http://watchdog.org/9177/u-s-justice-department-says-local-jail-populations-decline-nationally/]. They need to stop screwing around with projects that line their buddies pockets and put more officers back on the street with equipment that is usable with cars that aren't 15 years old. Up the base pay system so that people actually have an incentive to become officers. They have to recruit so hard here because they pay for shit, working conditions are shit and mainly because Atlanta sucks donkey balls.
Possibly, this might increase the number of people within the prision system which is a slave labor workforce, capable of better global competition.
Only individual states can enforce a prisoner - labor force. The fed does not as far as I am aware. Most states these days just keep their prison's locked up night and day. Occasionally you will see a few on the road picking up trash, but even that is becoming a rarity. Most of the time, it's just people doing community service for some petty act like speeding.
Oh don't forget, the news chick here said that the London riots were caused by the police beating an "African American" man.... Yes, they are just that stupid.
So far, they haven't decreased the crime rate even a single %. I'll be more interested to see what happens when the first case, whose evidence is the camera feeds, makes it to the state supreme court. Last year, the court declared certain uses of the traffic cameras at stop lights unconstitutional.
Honestly, there are only certain areas that would even need the surveillance, and it wouldn't need that if the cop weren't busy harassing prostitutes for blowjobs.
Naivete... Apple and MS have both come under fire over user privacy issues. here's a major difference. On my ACA droid build, I have this nice app, it's called LBE Security Service. Thankfully, monitors every app that tries to access any type of information and do something with it. While giving me complete control over what is allowed to look at my data, what data it is trying to see and what it can do with it IF I allow it to see it. On WinMo 7, I have yet to find an application that comes even close.
BestBuy isn't winning by a long shot. They've closed down so many stores here due to Walmart kicking the shit out of them on prices, never having what you want in stock and complete retards working in the store. My aunt, uncle and I went to the nearest one to their house to get them set up with Clear wifi. Even with me standing over them and telling the salesman to fuck off, they still got charged 3 times and that was after 30 minutes of them trying to figure out how to even ring it up in the first place. This was 2 months ago, not when Clear first came out fyi...
There are a shitload of places that don't accept passports as ID. My girlfriend and one of her friends and I have all had issues using their passports as ID's. Bank of America wouldn't accept mine as ID when my wallet was stolen and hadn't had to time to go to the DMV and get a new license.
That's the problem, Gateway (HP in disguise). I've never met a Gateway box that I didn't hate and that's after many many MANY years working in repair shops.
Not all MFG warranties are bunk. I've been buying Samsung monitors for a while now not just because they've been a good price, but because anytime there is EVER an issue, I hit their support site, get a ticket in, get my mailing label and usually have a new monitor within a week to 10 days. I'm not talking about just MFG defects either. One monitor I sent back developed a dead pixel, while the 2nd I sent back was basically 4 pieces from getting knocked off my desk and shattered. They replaced both with no questions asked.
check these guys out http://www.firefold.com/ I've been buying cables from them for a while now and you just can't beat what they have and the price.
I have a very love/hate relationship with microcenter as well. I worked there and it was pretty bad. But I don't go anywhere else anymore to get upgrades, accessories etc for my rigs. I do NOT go to the store I worked in, but their other location here makes that one look like a radio shack.
Correct except that the budgeting and build process was begun in the Bush administration. It was continued due to being told it was a necessity. I have no problems with the process that was taken, I don't find fault with Bush or Obama in regards to these centers. The only fault I would see is if they were used to house data on private citizens. Obama is doing exactly what any good CEO or executive would do. He inherited projects that were under way, did not see a reason that they should stop early on, but when presented with up to date information, made an executive decision and is doing his job.
Also, this concept that closing these data centers is somehow going to make the administration less open to the public is just pure rubbish. This President has been more open and forthcoming with information than any we have had so far. This is not to say that he's perfectly open, but it's the best step in the right direction that we've had and we can hope that it continues in the upcoming years. It's a damn sight better than the "fuck off, I'll tell you what I think you should know" attitude of the last guy.
Yepp, his fault that something that was approved, budgeted and begun before his administration was done... (this is my glare face)
He approved the continuation based on being told that these centers were necessary for data retention and they aren't. So they are getting closed. As any good business person would do when faced with budget restrictions.
Yes, every last word and if I can't understand some legal jargon (very unlikely) I have a lawyer for a father who does. There is no excuse other than laziness for signing any contract without reading it and comprehending it first.
duh

That's not here in Atlanta... That's in Edinburgh.

Pawn shops here (Georgia) are also required by law to make photo copies of your ID and assign it to whatever you pawn.

replace them with private entities with LESS oversight.... yeah.... I'll be damned if i go through a colonoscopy to board a plane.
anti gun nuts will argue whole-heartedly against that logic sir.
Right, and as soon as the FCC does, Congress will try to pass a law saying they are overstepping their authority (remember net neutrality?)

Man that will be so much easier when you don't have to search a crowd for someone.
I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.
