Because the domain is icio.us and www.icio.us looks stupid. Are you only able to type URLs or select bookmarks that start with www? Del.icio.us has worked fine for me in IE, various Mozillas, and both FF 1.0.X and 1.5. No reason to go to Opera or Konqueror.

Yes, but I'm betting there are more than a single one of these posts. With proper time management, if the article submitter is truly serious, 30 minute chunks can be invested into the beginnings of real jobhunt. And don't forget that you can take a day off to interview. Otherwise, you're just not serious about finding a new job.

Your problem is you never learned to say "no, I'm sorry, I don't have the bandwidth for that." Now that you know, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to make the same mistake of not applying limits at the next job? If not, why not start at your current work place. Take a peek at Time Management for System Administrators for tips on what you can do to make your job more comfortable and relieve stress. Looking for a new job is just one way of saving yourself.

There was a patch submitted a couple of months back for a tabbed view of email messages. I understand that it was probably too close to when the RCs where being published, but what are the plans for this? Is there an extension or possibly a change it will be in a 1.6 version? It just sounds like it could really make the view pane usable for me. Since I am taking care of so many issues at once, I generally have all sorts of email reply windows open. This would make things less cluttered.

We don't use standard parts. Almost everything these days is a single board with ethernet, video, and sound, plus all the other I/O ports you could want. When the board goes, you need another around. We are buying high-end Intel Server boards, so it's not likely that any mom and pop shop will have it.

Today's alternative is to make sure that critical services are functioning in either clusters or farms. This means that the loss of a single machine is not noticed by anyone not wearing a pager. Any other services are not critical and thus not worth the immediate sweat... they get overnight support.

Certainly, you can get 2-hour support, just ask the salesman for a quote next time you're renewing a service contract - but be prepared to pick your jaw up off the ground and possibly suffer from a lifetime of TMJ.

Just playing Devil's advocate, since I definitely believe you should be able to play whatever the hell you want in your player. Your concerns will not affect them.

Realistically, you know there will be a patch or some other such workaround for this from the user community. As with any other technology, don't upgrade to Vista until all the problems are resolved for you. Or just don't upgrade at all. As many have noted, there really aren't many benefits left to upgrading from XP to Vista. I'm very comfortable where I am on XP and will be until Microsoft forces me off, at which time one of the open source OSs might finally be on par, or Microsoft has corrected these mistakes in judgement.

However, if you're one to shout that kind of crap out to the world, tag away. I think the old adage still applies: "don't do anything you wouldn't want everyone to see in the news."

It has everything to do with human behavior and nothing to do with computer security. As it is, desktop search tools are opening up whole avenues to quickly find the secret smut on your desktop. Do you have a Google account AND search history enabled? Go to google.com and do a Search History and see what stuff you've been searching on that Google knows about. You shouldn't have done a search on "merkin".

We don't touch this OOo crap lest some incompatibility creep in and embarass us with our customers. Interfacing with customers is one area where I expect business does not play as fast and loose as the open source world would wish. Business is just now getting around to adopting Linux as a server platform after it has been out for over a decade. Don't expect OOo to be adopted any quicker. I expect in seven years to see articles in IT trade rags exclaiming about this precious new free office suite Open Office 10 that they have discovered and how it is so 5VV337 and better than any other. While Firefox is young and popular in the IT world, its rate of adoption seems to have hit a wall.
