ICQ and IRC. In the US. None of the geeks used AIM, that was for script kiddies and random people. And from there it was Trillian, so it didn't matter what you had.
I think that will turn around sooner or later, though, particularly as cert paths trickle down to the community colleges and such. Plenty of businesses and government agencies love to run a unified solution, particularly for pricing. It has nothing to do with functionality and everything to do with pricing and finding "qualified" people all while pleasing some executive/bureaucrat who has no clue or no care about the fallout
Microsoft doesn't care about linux, it cares about market domination while making money. This is one more way to add to their ability to dominate and make money. If they're still selling licenses and getting systems installed, caring about what you implement means little. True, it's only one OS at this point(presumably), but I imagine they'll add more as time comes. This is also about competition from IBM, with which these same points apply
At least half of the "coders" I know also double as IT. Outside of strictly defined corporate world(meaning the small and medium business world that employs most people) you end up doing a lot more than just coding simply because the business needs it. True, certs are for IT, but doesn't mean that IT and programming don't go together at times
It's got a long way to go if it's going to out noir Max Payne. Everyone is talking about that abortion Heavy Rain as if it was the first to do it. Well, I say, "Bah," to that.
I've had my gaming and gaming rig for 7 years. Never wiped either of them. They run well. Do occasional management(application uninstalls with a bit of registry cleanup if necessary, defrag), but that's OS-independent maintenance for the most part.
Steven Erikson(Lundin) is the most notable pure fantasy writer on there. Moorcock is probably the most notable fantasy author on the list, but he also does scifi(though his most popular works are fantasy).
But I don't live in hipsterdouchebagville with all that population density and all those poor people that use their iphone/ipad to stream netflix or tether for bittorrent because they won't pay the man for cable. I live in the burbs. I probably have the cell tower all to myself
Slacker doesn't just stream, it stores data. You can sync your Slacker to save hours of steams to your device for later playing. This is also why it can change your wifi state. Granted, the Slacker Player itself is the best way to go
The US wasn't threatened militarily in Korea or Vietnam, either. Israel is small, but influential with a very strong military and they are a nuclear power(supposedly). They also have the itchiest trigger finger. If Israel goes to full-scale war, it will send the whole region down the shitter and invite countries like Russia to get involved since they do a lot of business with other countries in the region(thus protecting their interests, same thing the US does). Israel only comes up because it is one of the reasons why countries like the US intervene. Ultimately, you want to keep the issues within the country. Manageable. The larger the conflict within the country, the greater the potential for it to spread. Israel is attached because of that, but so are other countries that major countries have major interests in
The ultimate goal of any intervention in arab countries is stabilization. Destabilization invites war, particularly nasty war when Muslim dominated nations with what is considered a decent military for the region are so close to Israel.
Good for you. I bought an AM3 chipset with an AthlonII X3 originally. Mobo had DDR3, USB3, SATA3, and 2 PCI-E slots avail at 16x/8x. Bought it when things were thin with an eye towards upgrading when things weren't. Added a Phenom X6 for under 200$, CrossFireX'd cards for cheap, and plenty of DDR3 ram for cheap after the fact. Started at $500. Probably put another 500 into it and kicked the replaced parts into a machine for my wife. Simple and easy with AMD. Damn near impossible with Intel.
And for the record, a good motherboard is not a trivial cost. Particularly a good Intel motherboard.
Sure, but going to the first and last launch of a vessel that will be shuttered for tech that's even more ancient would mean more. I can see ICBM launches all the time at Vandenberg

I'm going to work on it tomorrow. I noticed that it doesn't pick up the adhoc wifi from my WinMo 6.1 phone, but it does from a Droid, as well.
I'll have to try and force it to run my Pocket eDGe 2.2 tablet with that hack. If it works, I'll post it up

Look up what OnStar does already
Where are the spinning skulls? WHERE?
OnStar records all driver information as well, and has been used in court against drivers. The FBI has also used it to track/bug people.

Only if you're on a body of water, though.

What if Libya is a prevention of wider conflict, or future conflict?
Sure, but it's still just an ICBM. The Shuttle launch is a completely different animal to watch lift off
They're awesome and worth it, if not just for the Kennedy Space Center tour

Saw the Endeavour at it's first launch from the VIP pad.. wish I was still in the industry to do it for the last. /rip space program
Algebra 2 was required for me in HS.. as well as a third year of math(be it trig and precalc, stats, or consumer math for the dummies)
