If anything, I'd think sports viewers are MORE likely to skip through stuff they don't want, including programming.

This is what I do, though I almost never record sports so I'm limited by the half-hour buffer.

Football goes by almost exactly three times as fast if you watch the plays at normal speed, between plays at single fast-forward, and commercials at double fast-forward. You don't hear the announcers much, but I consider that a big plus with most football announcers. I normally don't go through quite this fast, as I watch replays of the best plays, but it still takes far less time than watching live would.

Basketball is much less annoying when you can fast forward through the fouls and timeouts at the end.

Baseball I normally watch the whole game, both because I like listening to Rex Hudler talk during dead time, and the other people watching wouldn't stand for aggressive fast-forwarding. I have watched games at single fast-forward, going to normal speed only when the ball is put into play, and it works quite well.

This was a simple business deal between Sega and Microsoft, and while it may piss off Dreamcast fans, there is nothing the least bit sleazy about it.

Not like they should. It is virtually identical to Diablo II in terms of modding (except for the additon of a map editor). Slightly easier in that they have more explanatory text in their spreadsheets of numbers. Blizzard has put a lot of work into making things easy to change for the benefit of their designers, but hasn't put it the effort to make it usable by the community. A simple way to choose an MPQ to override the default and play games only with those with the same mod would make not only WC3 but any future games with the same sytem easily modifiable.

We're not talking about data here, we're talking personal preference.

Yes, I figured that out. Problem is that people are claiming that of the millions of people that have played multiple Final Fantasys, the majority agrees with them. There is a big difference between "I consider FF VIII the worst of the series", which is personal preference, and "FF VIII is generally reviled as the worst of the series", which needs data to back it up. Final Fantasy VII, if you view it in the context of its time, is the greatest innovator among Square's PlayStation RPGs. But Final Fantasy VIII took all of its strong points, and made them better.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for the PS2 is pretty similar to Gauntlet Legends on the N64, even more similar to Gauntlet Legends on the Dreamcast, and presumably the upcoming Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for the GameCube will be even more similar. They have a great selection (including some imports), but it's pretty common for games to be out of stock for a while. For example I put Sonic Adventure 2 in my queue when I joined in late September, and recieved it in early November. I still haven't gotten Parasite Eve though, which I also added when I joined and which it now finally says is in stock. I haven't gotten any GameCubes games yet, and don't really expect them for a while.

Still, it's been worth it. There are a lot of games that just don't take that long to finish. ICO, for example, was very fun first time through but I can't imagine wanting to play it again. However, I don't really think it is a valid option for Neverwinter Nights. It would require a lot of changes. I can't see a game that wouldn't allow you to multi-class to more than three classes easily being changed to a classless system with hundreds of skills.

Sword & Sorcery covers it. Just swap with synonyms and you've got a lawsuit-free game system.

I really, really doubt it. Fallout originally had a GURPS license, and after they dropped the license I believe SJ Games sued them to keep them from releasing it as GURPS with the serial numbers filed off.
