Amtrak tries to be all things to all people and is run very, very poorly. Instead of updating the lines in the NE corridor, they instead waste money in Texas where 300 per WEEK ride the train. The Accela line from Philly to New York costs over $225 and still makes stops - for that price it should be completely express. People use the trains in the NE, but unfortunately, the fools running Amtrak have no idea on how to run a business. Amtrak should be completely privatized - then you'll see progress made as the most profitable lines gain priority. If you can't get to Minnesota from North Dakota by train - who cares, by a car you commie bastard. But I should be able to take a train from Philly to New York and it should only take 45 min for me to get there.

Why is it only fake countries like Canada do this stuff? Microsoft Office is far and away the best Office Suite of products on the market today - to get the best you have to pay the best. Paying for software is the only way to ensure that a quality product is developed. While Open Source has Linux, there are 15 - 20 other projects that are dying because someone had an idea to make a product, but then quickly lost interest. The software development model is what Open Source will be remembered for, not an operating system that won't pick up soundcards. Its funny to see Canada have to do this to save money too. Maybe if they didn't pay people not to work and forced there people to have some personal responsibility, they would have a great successful country like the USA.
