    I never build FS stuff as a module.

    Similar here... but with a minor change:
    I never build my default FS stuff as modules

    ext2/3 and JFS build right in, vfat, ntfs, hfs, etc... modules, becuase I don't need to use them all that often, only when I have to recover data off of a different drive do I need to use them

    What standards ? In this area of connecting server and client software Microsoft is setting a lot of the standards.

    It's very hard to say that something is a standard unless you publish it... an unpublished standard is very similar to a few other of my favorites...
    "World Famous in Ireland"
    "Slightly Pregnant"
    "The dumbest thing I've ever heard... Today"

    What it seems like to me, is that Microsoft is trying to get the following system in place (Bad Car Analogy Warning)
    You buy a new SUV, and need new tires, you have to go back to the Microsoft Dealer, because your new "MS MudRover" Only take tires with a diameter of 17.428 inches and a 12 inch width... You also can't get new rims, becuase the MS MudRover uses a proprietary 19 Pin/lugnut system to attach the rum to the axel, oh yeah, and they have a patent on said 19 Pin system, as well as making 17.428Inch diameter tires with a 19 inch width... In short, Vendor Lock In, becuase nothing else works

    Oh, You mean like Office 2k3?
    here's the scenario:
    1) Fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2
    2) All 75 Critical updates, plus the 3 required updates to get the latest version of windowsupdate to run (Watch Star Wars)
    3) install MS Office 2k3 Enterprise edition
    4) Install Office SP2 & all critical updates (Read War and Peace)
    5) Create users, including 1 Limited user
    6) Fire up MS Word
    6.5) "Preparing to install Microsoft office"
    7) Put in my name & Initials, Word is now ready to use
    6) log in as said limited user
    7) fire of MS Word
    7.5) "Preparing to install Microsoft Office"
    8) spit and cuss because it failed becuase it couldn't edit the registry to "Set user settings"
    9) put in name & initials

    now until I've gone back changed the account to an administrator account, fired up word in said account, and then set the account back to limited, repeat steps 6-9 every time you want to use MS Word/Excell/Powerpoint/etc...

    Even that approach isn't hack-proof, but it is a lot harder to dump the cpu registers under such conditions than it is to trace memory accesses. Not really... If you set up a VM, you can pretty much watch the registers. besides, that data has to exist somewhere in some form to get into the register

    think of it this way:

    Impeachment is being accused, and forced to stand trial (The House of Reps. does this a la Grand Jury)
    Being removed from office is being convicted (The Senate does this a la Jury)

    hence it is true to say that President Clinton was impeached, however he was not removed from office based on the decision of the Senate

    a) That's why pharmacists have to go to school for quite some time and also pay $BIGNUM for their degree and certification... it's their job to know that Claritin is also known as loratadine

    b) when it comes in insomnia... you've heard of Tylenol PM... all it is, is 2 Extra Strength Tylenol (Acetominophen) and a regular dose of Benedryl... don't believe me, check the box.

    Having grown up in a sugar-beet producing country... I can say with a great level of assurance, that it's because of the RUM...

    Sugar cane rum is actually quite good, while rum made from sugar beets is just about the nastiest form of alcohol known to man (it's only plus side, is that raisins soaked in it are good in baked goods)
