Just trying to follow what you're saying. You're saying that "X is 200% more than Y" means X=2*Y+Y, but that "X is 2x more than Y" means X=2*Y. I thought that "200%" was synonymous with "2 times".
Ignoring percentages and simply focusing on "X is two times more than Y" meaning X=2*Y, I'm assuming that "X is 1.1 times more than Y" means X=1.1*Y. Does "X is 0.5 times more than Y" mean that X=0.5*Y, that X is actually less than Y? Would this mean that "X is 0 times more than Y" means that X=0?
If a single dimension changes, assuming the NAND cell structure is similar, there would be a 5x reduction in size in each of the X and Y dimensions. Therefore, you would get up to 25x more density than a current NAND. This is why process technologies roughly target the smallest drawn dimension to progressively double gate density every generation (i.e. 45nm has 2x more cells than 32nm).
I was going to let this slide, but you blew it at the end. Let's assume you meant to say that 32nm has 2x more cells than 45nm. That's still wrong.
The 32nm one can fit the same cell in half the area. I think we agree so far. This means that in the same area, the 32nm one has twice the number of cells than the 45nm one. It does NOT have two times more; it only has one time more. It'd be like saying that a human has two eyes more than a cyclops. A human has twice the number of eyes, but only one eye more.
This is an amazingly common error I see often here on Slashdot, given that many of us are programmers. "X is two times more than Y" translates as X = 2*Y + Y. The English version of X = 2*Y is "X is two times Y".
The problem isn't really with quantum encryption, it's with the technical implementation.
Yes, exactly. This is like saying that one-time pad encryption has been broken because someone found a bug in an implementation (or rather, an implementation of something other than one-time pad encryption).
When you've got a market locked down, people think buying your products will make them cool, and you've closed everything off so the only way out is to avoid apple
They've got the market locked down because people choose to buy their products? Kind of like how Google has the search market locked down because most people choose it for searching? I envision a day when we don't get to choose what we use, and instead are treated to a random selection of all the available alternatives. No more locked down markets, for one!
Hands down, Sony's dual analog controller is tops. I'm a Nintendo fanboy, but I have to give credit to Sony for getting that controller done so well. I still use the Dual Shock from the PS1 era. The digital pad is perfect for 2D games like Symphony of the Night, and the analog sticks are very comfortable to use. Nintendo's offerings, like the N64 controller or even the Game Cube one, pale in my opinion.
SEGA and NEC both had CD-ROMs for their respective consoles way before that.
Small correction: Sega isn't an acronym. For years I thought the same and wrote it in all-caps, due to the way their logo looks, but then I found my error.
They may be using modern technology to do the census, but they're using them in a primitive way. Modern statistical methods allow one to take a small sample and accurately determine the entire population and its makeup, at a tiny fraction of the cost.
Its like tipping, nowhere does it say that you -must- tip (unless the tip is included with the bill) but its still common courtesy. A waitress has every right to be mad when someone orders $300 worth of food and doesn't even leave her a single cent.
One reason I avoid eating out. I have this silly idea that it's like any other business, where they state the prices of the products and I choose which ones I want to buy, then pay the money and get the products. If someone wants to play games, I take my business elsewhere. It's the sellers that feel entitled to more than the stated price that make me have disgust for everyone in their line of business.
Yep. First you see whether it can even be done. THEN you see whether it can be made into a convenient package and be practical. But I can understand questions of this nature, like the one about only a few people in the world having a use for a computer... when they filled a huge room and required expensive air conditioning and a staff of people to keep operating. In that I agree; what use would people have of a heavy camera that took that long to take pictures, assuming that was the best it could be at the time? It's not like they were going to reduce its size/power requirements/time to take photo by an order of magnitude.
Also, USB 3.0 supports asynchronous transfers between devices. In USB 2.0, the host controller had to ask for data and then the device sent it. Imagine you want a book from someone. The USB 2.0 way would require you to ask for the book's contents one page at a time, and would request each page one after the other. The USB 3.0 way simply hands you the book.
I'm just wondering what the cause of increased mortality was. Was it the increased sitting, or some third factor that was also the cause of these people sitting more?
What do you mean, can't we just find large deposits of liquid hydrogen to drill wells into and pump out? Are you saying the environmentalists have lied to me about hydrogen being an alternative to oil?!?

I prefer "to try or cure him".

I'm just curious as to why you wrote the word as "UpSide".
Not as packaged as iFixit sounds, but I've found the Badcaps Forums a great place to learn about LCD monitor repair and electronics operation.
Don't worry, flying cars are still 5-10 years from being ready.

I'm posting this comment to an Internet website commonly known as Slashdot.

Well I'll be damned; I stand corrected. I know I had looked into the matter in the past. Oh well.

Ahh yes, the third tablet didn't survive...
Sorry, already been done, sort of: Spider Boy
I kind of agree with them. It'd be even better if it ran on nothing.

Well, clearly he's a little low on cash and needs to raise a little more.

- Jar Jar Binks. Even nature isn't this cruel.
If this statement is true, then this statement is true.
Correction: zero to nearly one, or infinite.
