Personally, I don't see how Slashdot can ethically do Movie reviews, or even Game reviews anymore, since lots of game companies are backed by Sony or Microsoft or other unethical companies. And this is why I want a refund of my subscription.

But now they're "reviewing" a game made by a company whose misdeeds are quite recent. Basically I guess the gist of this is, "We have principles. Unless you send us free stuff." We appreciate your contribution very much. ") so I demand a full refund. To whom should I direct this complaint?
As a side note, after seeing this, I now do not care whether or not Slashdot succeeds or fails. While I can understand you need to make the best business decision in order to survive, this seems to have nothing to do with the business and instead is more a case of "what kind of kickbacks can I get from this gig?"
If they're "hijacking" affiliate codes then they're not the first people to do so. eBates is a company that uses affiliate programs to get 10-15% commissions on sales and then gives the customer back like 3-5% or whatever. They have a piece of software called Moe Money Maker which apparently tracks every click you make, and if you visit a site that has an affiliate program (through linkshare, etc), when you land on, e.g. http://www.moviesite.com/product?title=blabla&sku= 123-131, it redirects you to http://www.moviesite.com/siteID=ASDFKLAAKIAIRTHAI (the eBates referrer code) so eBates gets a commission - regardless of whether or not the user used eBates to find the store. I work for a company that's had this happen a couple of times and we really hate it, but we let it slide because we'd rather sell the item than not. The only solution is to block eBates as an affiliate, which we don't really want to do.
It's most annoying when the user comes in through a search engine that we've paid Overture to list us on. Some of our overture keywords are over $1, so we have to pay overture $1 plus we have to pay eBates the 10-15% commission. Very annoying, but still better than making no sale at all.
Can you point me to the exact page that has this thing? Or tell me the model number? And how hard is it to build? I haven't touched a soldering iron in like 8 years or so.

What I did a few weeks ago was map ad.doubleclick.net to 192.168.0.1, my NAT box. I have apache running there and setup a virtual Host for ad.doubleclick.net. As much as MS is going to push Word.NET on the Xbox/HomeStation, it is completely illogical to do word processing in the living room on your TV set with a console. Sorry. So while it's certainly true that the console gaming market is stronger than the PC gaming market (the reasons for which should be glaringly obvious to everyone), that in no way serves as an indication that the PC is dying. The two have nothing to do with each other.
