It is a Viconsystem. They are pretty standard in robotics research labs. They are used from motion capture and localization. I imagine at this point it is needed for them to function properly but could later be replaced with any method of localization, gps or the likes.
This was my thought exactly, instead of the boolean why not call a method. The method name can and should be highly descriptive so you know what is going on (both for readability and maintainability) and it also allows for code reuse which was one of the arguments earlier for goto. The OP's claim that it had to be done with the extra boolean was unsettling.
I think your average p2p client would have been a fairly obscure piece of technology for most just a few years ago, but now because of the ubiquity of them we have SOPA. People have grown accustom to getting what they want when they want it. If hackers come up with a way to circumvent SOPA restrictions that is mildly user friendly people will use it.
Seems pretty random to just ignore the part you don't agree with. Either they are the words of god or they are not. I don't think you get to pick and choose. I think that is what gets me the most about religions is the hypocrisy.
it has been on every frigin tech news site. Sicker yet of all the frigin people complaining about a $200 dollar device because they think it should be as polished and as feature rich as a $500+ device. The Fire is awesome at what it was designed for, consuming media at a budget. I think it was all the hype about the "iPad killer" and everyone was expecting so much more.
I think there is a world of difference between watching stupidity that results in harm versus physically causing it to another. I can watch (from a desensitizing distance of my own living room) some dumb ass hurt themselves and find amusement in it, but that same thing in real life not the same.
Also have you ever watched early televised slap stick comedy? I mean think of the Three Stooges, that at times was just brutal but thought the height of comedy. Take it further back to things like Punch and Judy shows, maybe puppets but that could get pretty violent as well. I think you are just looking through biased eyes.
Because Americans are conditioned to believe that if they vote for any 3rd party then it will just help the opposing R or D party. Meaning if you vote for a more left leaning 3rd party then those votes do not go to the Democrats and therefore the Republicans will win. Because of this we are stuck with the a - holes we have.
At the firm I work at we outsourced a few smaller items that needed to be done but we didn't have enough programmers to fit it into our development cycle. Those projects went reasonably well, after that we decided to hand the firm a much bigger project and it all went to hell. I am still years from then facing the ramifications of it and curse them vehemently. It sort of killed outsourcing for us, probably a good thing for my job security. I guess the take away is not to expect to much.
The problem is no matter who we vote in, its the same story. Look at the options right now in the republican primaries, for example... All dbags. Then in the Presidential election it will be one of said dbags versus Obama, how is this the voters fault. They really do not get to pick the candidates, thats all done by the various national committees. We are stuck with whoever they give us. Then it is simply picking the lessor of two evils. What a system.
It appears mostly cleaner than other forms of energy retrieval- certainly much cleaner than coal and less environmental damage than moving mountain tops around.
Certainly better than moving mountain tops and possibly better than coal, but as I understand it most of the chemicals used are considered proprietary and protected as a trade secret and therefore are not very well know (at least to the general public or regulators) if at all. The unknown chemicals could very well be some seriously nasty stuff. It is one of the general concerns with fracking.
Something has to monitor the plants for bugs or disease, which I honestly haven't figured out.
I work at a company that produces data loggers and sensors, some of our lines are made for soil temperature/moisture and ambient temperature. We can set real time alarms for various parameters and you would be surprised how many disease/pest vectors can be determined by soil conditions and ambient temperatures only. Set real time alarms for conditions that are statistically linked to the vectors and when the alarms are triggered the farm bots can take action in accordance (pesticides, fungicides, etc...)
This is related to the study done a little while ago out of Columbia University . The basic idea is we tend to forget things we know we can find quickly through a search.
I feel like there are all sorts of teaching frameworks that do this (often developed at specific schools and tailored towards the class at hand). Also a lot of textbooks websites will supply code examples or class that have a mix of implemented methods and method stubs to teachers/students to use so not everything has to be developed from the bottom up.
The summary makes it sound like these kids are being encouraged to cheat off one another.
Yeah for reals. In college there were those kids who just wanted to copy someone else's code to get an assignment done and those who worked in collaboration to make something truly excellent. There is a huge difference and for the summary to call it copying is not at all what the article was about. I also find the whole "learning them in a few months" highly suspect as well.
I really didn't think it was all that horrible. I was not ready to jump up and start dancing to it but I feel lot of the shit that gets played on the radio is worse. Due to the arrhythmic and random nature of the piece I bet it was actually a bitch to play on the piano.
Oh come on, we know the answer to this. Hellish beings from another Universe will come charging through the gap causing explosions, terror and Micheal Bay movies.
No, it will be the Dark Overlord of the Universe and only an anthropomorphic duck and a neutron disintegrator laser can save us.

this actually meant something.

Don't forget the five year warranty...

It is up to the experts in those fields to make the laws reality.
The problem is they are not willing to listen to the experts and are trying to push the bill through regardless of what the experts are saying.

Its just a guess, but I think you will have a hard time doing experiments on extinct species
Couldn't hurt

Just commenting to remove accidental mod.

No its Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison
Maybe with the increase intrest in voice on mobile devices you will get TVs where you can just speak to it. TV find food network or some such shit.
I like how this one crazy thread start some full blown religious argument here. Good Job!
