That looks like something that fell out of the HL2 box. I think it reads, "Get in the GAME with ATI RADEON x800 Series Graphics Cards for more info visit ati.com."
I let my subscription run out. I've said it before, but ever since this left wing political section came around, I've had no desire to renew my subscription to Slashdot.
How about the ability to block the Political section altogether? Right now I have both boxes for Politics checked to exclude from the homepage, yet these stories keep appearing. Because of this, and the pro-Kerry political slant, I let my subscription run out. Maybe this will send a message to Slashdot. I want news for nerds, stuff that matters, not left wing propaganda from "Marxist Hacker 42" or Jimmy Carter's opinion on the Florida elections.
How to block Political section?

Has anyone had success excluding the political section from their homepage? I'm tired of "Bush is a Moron," and stories from the Karl Marx institute. My preferences has two listings for Politics, both of which are checked to exclude such stories, and yet stories like THIS keep appearing on the homepage.
Firefox != Mozilla Firefox is much faster than Mozilla, don't bitch about speed if you choose to try the bloated version only and opted to skip the lightweight, streamlined product.
Firefox IS Mozilla, just as much as the suite is.
Thunderbird : Mozilla Mail:: Firefox : Mozilla Browser And just in case you need a superior email client, give Thunderbird a try.
Which really doesn't make much sense, seeing how the "streamlined" Firefox, running in conjunction with Thunderbird, take up more memory than the suite does.
The Democratic National Convention is full of minorities because of Affirmative Action. In short, the Democratic party set QUOTAS on how many Whites, Hispanics, Blacks, etc. could attend. States had to comply with the quotas or the party would REFUSE TO SEAT THEM at the convention. For example, in Tennesee, based on the statewide population, the party decided that the delegation would look like this:
White, Non-Hispanic: 70.4 percent of delegation (59 delegates)
Black/African American: 27.2 percent of delegation (23 delegates)
Hispanic 2.4 percent of delegation (2 delegates)
Youth (ages 18-29) 10 percent of district delegation (9 delegates) source. Look it up for your own home state.
Whether or not this is racism is debatable, but the difference between the RNC and DNC is that the RNC was a true picture of the constituents while the Democrats used quotas to make their convention look as colorful as possible.
I haven't switched [from Mozilla Suite], and will not switch anytime soon because I find that: -
1: Mozilla Suite has an email client.
2: I can access the same calendar application from both the browser and the email client.
3: For the most part, Firefox extensions work perfectly on the suite.
4: I already have junk mail controls set on Mozilla. If I were to import mail into Thunderbird, the first time I run Junk Mail Controls on the folder about half of my emails end up in Trash.
1. Scary Stories (Series) by Alvin Schwartz 5. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain 6. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck 8. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson 12. My Brother Sam is Dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier 13. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger 14. The Giver by Lois Lowry 16. Goosebumps (Series) by R.L. Stine 22. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle 33. Killing Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan 41. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee 47. Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes 56. James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl 57. The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell 69. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut 84. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain 88. Where's Waldo? by Martin Hanford
Some of the books sound familiar, of course it's been years since I've read any of them (with the exception of Huck Finn, which I find myself reading over and over again). The fact that ANY of these books could be banned boggles my mind.
The Commandant of the Marine Corps puts out a suggested reading list which is similar to the Army's. While the list is heavily dominated by books on the Marine Corps ("Semper Fidelis: The History of the United States Marine Corps" by Millett), it also includes a few Army books ("Patton: A Genius for War" by D'Este), books on warfare in general ("Mao Tse-Tung on Guerrilla Warfare"), and, oddly enough, Starship Troopers.
The original MIDIs for DOOM sound a lot like vintage Hetfield/Mustaine riffing. I don't think DOOM ripped them off any more than later bands ripped off early Metallica.
On a related note, Mustaine wrote the modern Duke Nukem theme.
Yep. You get email (with IMAP access), usenet, irc, AIM, lynx, and a shell. Something like $37 gives you 100Megs of space to work with. They don't ask for much and I think it's more than worth it.
It sounds to me like this guy is insecure about his intellegence and is falling back on Slashdot to boost his confidence. He describes himself as "uniquely bright," but admits he hasn't done anything spectacular to merit this title. Lots of people use Linux; that doesn't make them smart. The same thing goes with not doing well in high school. It doesn't mean they were too smart for their education, it just means they were different. Heartbreak:(
I realize that a lot of geniuses didn't do well in high school, but then, they weren't labeled such until after they did something to prove themselves. I could label myself as a champion bodybuilder because I go to the gym everyday, but the truth is I'm only benching 225. The same principle applies: you can't call yourself something unless you can back it up.
You're going to college and you have the rest of your life ahead of you. Find something you're good at, and stick with it. Just don't fall into the mentality that if you fail at something, it's because you're too "bright."
What color is the sky in Dvorak's world? The Xbox is outselling the Playstation 2. Xbox parties have quickly replaced LAN parties, and the fact that you can mod the hell out of it has almost turned soldering into a fad. The only place I can see the Xbox as hurting Microsoft is that PC gaming may suffer as a result. But what does Microsoft care if they already control most of the PC world through Windows anyway? If anything, the Xbox is increasing Microsoft's stronghold in the home.
I've been able to make windows transparent when dragged thanks to NVIDIA's nView software for years. Window transparency has been possible since Windows 2000, and I'm sure I remember dragging transparent windows around on Enlightenment maybe four years ago. Is Apple referring to transparent windows in general, or would the ability to make a window transparent while moving fall under this patent?
I'm also curious as to how Win2k's fade in menu effect is effected.
I remember DesktopDollars, which was a system where you were paid to have advertisements placed at the top of the desktop. It promised $150 an hour. I made $7 in three months.
I also remember Juno and NetZero providing free internet, the later of which now charges $14.95 a month for dialup.
Because the majority of bugfixes and new features are going to the 1.8 trunk, and haven't been ported back over to Firefox yet.
Maybe you should try the real calendar and not the stand alone?

Does Slashdot want Kerry in office THIS bad?
Exactly when has Nelson *ever* talked about the television show Hee-haw?

You do realize what AWOL stands for, and that "leave" has absolutely NO meaning in the reserves, right?
Bush was NOT AWOL.

The same reason someone might need both Konqueror and Mozilla. Choice.
I think the inclusion of Crossover is more of a proof of concept thing, though. It's mainly there to get Windows users interested.

Quake had 2D sprites for fire.

This written from a Gamecube fan.

Wasn't Windows 95 Chicago?
Man, for $1700 this thing better do military creases.
Maybe some day the editors will read their own site.
Or maybe their own e-mail. I sent a message to the on-duty editor while the story was still red, and it STILL got posted.
