No thanks. Did that for a decade and I go tired of running multiple OSs. I have nothing against Linux. I was even a system administrator for Linux for a few years looking after the servers for a government website. My preference for the desktop is the Mac and I've moved onto doing development for the iOS and Mac environment.
That being said I do have a nice Synology NAS at home where I run my own file server, DNS, mail server, web server, and BitTorrent Sync client. It's also connected to the Internet via a VPN and all my computers on my home network use it as a proxy. I have my torrent client running on there. There are plenty of other options that can be added such as media servers. It's a really nice box and saves me from looking after another machine. All I had to do was install the drives, turn it on, and configure how I wanted the RAID set up. Yes, I paid for the convenience but I've had it 4 or 5 years and not had a problem with it, except my drives filling up.
Or like many things they will just get used to it and accept the new way. I would hope that you are right but I don't have faith that even if people did rise up and demand change that the large corporations would listen.
Oh they'll get it right. Once they have your phone number they can go out and buy a whole lot of extra information about you in order to target the ads.
I think it was around 1999 when there were apps that ran on your desktop to show ads and as long as your mouse was active (moving every 15 or 30 seconds or so) then you would get paid for the ads shown. So of course it wasn't long before utilities came up that would move the pointer to simulate the mouse being moved and you could walk away from your computer for hours at a time.
I'm sure that he thoroughly investigates each person to make sure that they are really a person using the services of a prostitute before posting the video.
And how does posting a video of an alleged prostitute help them escape their life if you claim that they are a victim? Posting a video which will stay online and get them arrested will just keep them where they are. How about offering assistance to make a change in their life?
In Ottawa at least Uber came and they still haven't felt the need to offer good service. I should note that I have come across the rare good taxi driver so they do exist in Ottawa but the majority of them are more interested in their phones, for personal use, than dealing with their clients.
I've always just bought my phone on my own because I have an inexpensive plan and put the SIM the new phone. Turn the new phone on and it just works. When I've needed a new SIM because the size changed I've just gotten a new one for the new phone and changed the SIM for my phone number on the website.
Your analogy only works if there was someone who poked you in the eye with a sharp stick. Or at least if you shot the person who poked you. In this case someone pokes you with a stick, you pull out a gun, shoot randomly into a crowd of people in the opposite direction, and then complain loudly about the ringing in your ears.
Part of the problem the US faces is that whenever it is talked about how such a bad idea the recent wars it undertook over in the Middle East all that is mentioned is the few thousand American troops lost and the money it cost the US to wage the wars. One almost never hears about the costs inflected on Afghanistan and Iraq.
Hundreds of thousands have died and many times that number have been maimed because of those actions. Millions upon millions of lives have been ruined. And yet all we hear from the US is the problems that the wars caused for them. Maybe the country would have more good will if it showed more sympathy towards the victims of its actions instead of showing support to politicians who propose carpet bombing areas of the Middle East.
Why would you use gmail to do your own business on? Pay for a domain, get the domain hosted for free, and get the mail hosted for free. It's what I do. The company that hosts my mail provides up to five mail accounts and after that (or more than 5GB of storage) you have to pay. I have an NAS running a mail server at home where I store all my archived mail but then I like to keep a lot of stuff.
Because low income areas don't have the political power to stop highways, manufacturing, and other sources of pollution from being built near them. Or any other undesirable development for that matter.
If you download the Detailed Tables 2 file from the article it has the start of the question:

Journalists, human rights activists, dissidents and whistleblowers can use these services to rally against repression, exercise their fundamental rights to free expression and shed light upon corruption. At the same time, hackers, illegal marketplaces (eg. selling weap"
But it's cut off there. However I do wish they would post the full questions right with their results in order to be transparent.
I don't know what you are referring to lumping the banking systems of Canada and the US together but they are fairly different. The banks in Canada have much tougher regulations. Our credit cards have had chip and pin for quite a while (about a decade?) and they have had NFC chips for tap and pay for years now.

Why are they going after $1.4M contracts? It most cost them more than that to enter it into their accounts!
Siri is set to use a female voice in some countries. In others the default is male. And in some at least you can change it.
I think Apple is missing out by not having the ability to buy different voices like you can with certain GPS devices.
A animated cartoon tire pops up in your heads up display:
"Hi I'm Spokes! You appear to be trying to change the radio station. Would you like some help with that?"
It's bad enough that NASA keeps calling it one year in space (see second article in the summary).

Bell and Telus use the same network.

This picture is from the article and looks like it's just the center monitor. I hope that there's a heads up display or something.

So the CIA has to go out of the US do to their training too?
That's easy! You hire the American candidate in order to train the H-1B and then lay off the American. Duh!
Thank goodness because every time I saw WP I always thought WordPerfect. :)
I still miss using it. The reveal codes feature was great as it made finding out formatting problems so easy to fix.
Wait a minute! What did the sea do? If the US and South Korea hold some aircraft training is North Korea going to attack the sky in retaliation?

They look nice but if you actually want to have space that you can utilize then you might want another architect.
Haven't they been plugging it into Twitter for the past couple of days?
