yea 1080P seems to be this magical unreachable number that we have been doing for years, or even decades in the workstation market (which this thing would stomp a powermac avid system) 1080 is magical, 1080 requires a fuckton of power, 1080 is impossible ... except the crappy little set top boxes using pretty much the same thing for a high price at walmart ...

There is no major nail in coffin situation for pc games any more as they are ports of software to run on 6+ year old, cheaply made game consoles, even if your system does suck, drop the resolution and effects a bit and your good to go.

My dual core AMD system with a 9600GT cost less than 200 bucks 3 years ago, and I can still run these games with just an occasional jitter at higher resolutions than the console (not much higher but still), but yet every game release there is some doofy benchmark telling us something that has not changed for over a half decade.

I sometimes rent from redbox, that started when my niece was in town and my wife wanted her to spend the night (they live cross country) but it sure beats getting reamed for 6 bucks on a 2 day rental at captain jackoff & tanning salon, and if I tried renting it from netflix it would have been a week late + I would have have to dig though their shitty website, re-arrange a list and pray that the data side of the dvd did not look like glitter.
