AOL sends out a lot of their discs in those nice plastic DVD cases (which I usually keep, tossing the CD and inserts). Warner Bros. DVD come in those cheap cardboard DVD cases. I'm not keeping the AOL CDs! Use the plastic cases for the movies! I wanna keep those! </RANT>
I picked up a cheapo Leatherman knockoff for a whopping six bucks at Wally-World... it came with ten or eleven different bits, phillips, flathead, I think even a torx or two. Couldn't beat the price, and since I have a habit of forgetting where I left stuff... All will be fine until a blade snaps off and flys across the room...
When they mentioned the alarm clock opening the curtains and playing music, I thought of that whole slide-out-of-bed-into-your-trousers- and-get-shot -with-an-oatmeal-cannon thing from W&G...
I read the EULA comment as an attempt at humor, poking fun at the fact that everything this side of cola cans is starting to have a EULA slapped on it.
..But I haven't bought a *new* CD in ages.. either by way of half.com or the local megachain, I stick to used. If enough people are doing that, maybe it is taking a bite out of sales. Of course the RIAA is no doubt trying to weasel in on that, too... Plus, as noted above, music as of late is proving Sturgeon's Law - 90% of everything is [crud|crap].
Totally Different.

Big difference.
If the film studios do have a downturn, they're more likely to blame it on pirates that the fact that they're shoveling more and more crap onto theater screens...
What's the ratio now, one good movie for every 37 cinema stinkers like "Crossroads," "Pluto Nash" or "Master of Disguise"?
All the 'text' in the linked articles seem to be graphics, so the 'fish can't do anything... They have an English section, but I could find no mention of the articles....
I personally SF has become less and less funny as it went along, and has been a chaotic mess as of late. I used to read it daily, and wasted an otherwise productive day reading the archives a while back, but have found myself going to the page less and less.
Admittedly, UF hasn't been as funny lately, but its a lot more coherent and it is still on my morning "must-reads".
I can just hear it... "This just in: Meteor shower on collision course with earth! Could this be the end? We'll find out, right after this message from Charmin."
I would think a flat-panel monitor would help if someone was sticking with desktop PCs... Couldn't find any solid comparisons of power consumption between LCDs and CRTs, though.
I don't think the question is really if they violated the GPL, which they may not have. I've used CDex for a while (great app). I tried NeoAudio just for kicks, and found it to be nearly identical, apart from the Spyware. (Ad-Aware to the rescue!) To slap your name on a program and release it without making any changes is the issue. At least improve upon, or build something better based on the original software.
I've been using their email forwarding service for years now.
I just wish all the spam was non-existant.
It could suck the paint off your house and give your family a permanent orange afro...
If not by the DCMA, then for sure by the NFL.
Is that a record?

...to our good friends, the Vulcans.
I dunno, seems more of a Coyote/Roadrunner sort of thing.
"Wile E. Coyote. Suuuuuper Genius."
More like "Ehh, what's up, lunch?"
...are they gonna put Zelda on a card with a little tiny battery to save the game?
As I recall, that was pretty revolutionary in the days of the 8-bit console & cartridge...
There is a link for directions here, which basically says to ScotchGuard some baked beach sand... YMMV

Seems like everyone is making too much of it...

No rip on Sluggy fans intended, that's just IMHO.
Not tires, or anything specific, just the concept of the wheel!
What's a few thousand years of prior use?
Maybe not yet, anyway, but there's some courageous soul out there with a dremel and too much free time...
Think the media will blow this out of proportion?
I can just hear it...
"This just in: Meteor shower on collision course with earth! Could this be the end? We'll find out, right after this message from Charmin."
Now that the only IMAX theater within 250 miles has closed down here...

Dehydrated water! Just add... oh, wait.
