I hate to give this one to the evil M$, but look at how their help files work you type in the first letter and it searches to it, type in the second letter and it goes to the 2 letters combined for the first nearest, it's basically the same thing put in 2-3 letters, and they'll give you the help topics that match closest.
I have the same laptop IBM 600E bought it used on ebay. When I received it the battery held a charge for 10 minutes. I figured it was used, so I bought a new battery, and it now only holds a charge for about 20 minutes. The problem only seems to affect the batteries placed in the bottom of the computer, the other batteries I bought that fit in the CD-ROM bay seem to hold a great charge. The standard battery is a HUGE issue, They cost almost $300 each.:-\
This is my most used book, I have 3 copies of First Edition, one for work, one for home, and one stays in my backpack. Looks like I am out to update it tonight.:-D yay updates!!
4. Some a**hole is giving comentary to the person sitting next to him/her. Hmmm.. this is a tough one. I'm torn between a paintball gun and something like this. [darpa.mil]
U don't watch much anime do you? Not all anime is fantasy based. Take Grave of the Fireflies. Which takes place towards the ending months of WWII. About a teenage boy who loses his mother in a bombing raid and therefor has to watch over his younger sister. It's extremely sad, and could have definately happened. Learn what you are talking about before you comment on it.
Hey, there is nothing wrong with anime. just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have the right to call other people names because they happen to like it. So why do you just grow up.
Second to call them uncaring and selfish is totally inaccurate. Granted they have their problems. But WTF? The US isn't any better. Nor are any European countries. I have MANY friends who are Japanese, I have been to Japan, and from what I saw that are some of the most respectful people I have ever met. They were totally friendly and courtious. Not at all selfish. Why don't you get a clue and stop criticizing an entire nation for the exploits of the rich.
I was 12, we lived near a papermill where they had a yard full of paper stacks, we use to go browsing the stacs for the Magazine pile. Guess what we were looking for...... and guess what we found.

IT Unions?

I'd like to point out...
not everyone in IT makes $100K/year.
Unions would be able to help restrict corporate NDAs/non-competes to be more fair for the employee.
I had recently sent an e-mail to my companies legal council asking the what if I want to work on Open source projects and what the company policy would be seeing I had signed an non-compete which took all my creative rights away. Well they said that basically the way the company saw it was that they owned me and he used those exact words, so say I had a part time job on weekends working at say McD(not that I would) and they wanted me to work work on saturday even though I had that second job. They feel that they come first. Not exactly fair.
There are people here who for the past 3 months have been working 15-16 hr days 7 days a week manditory because some management idiot didn't spec out a project properly.
Keep thinking that way. We are in the eyes of most IT company "Slaves"
Given that most Open Source software development going on right now is an attempt to steal or copy other available software...
Umm how can writing your own code be stealing some one else's software? Writing software to do the same task as anothers is NOT stealing!!!!!!!!!!

I remember being 5(yes 5) and watching starblazers and force 5 every morning before kindergarden. Then getting to school and pretending I was one of the star vengers or grandizer or Gai King. Man I miss those shows. I did manage to get the 2nd Starblazers DVD (currently only 3 are available) the video is horrible, but I'm betting the masters of the american release weren't in very good condition.
I have the exact same player except one model before that. Mine "DOES" support CDRs! How can this be you may ask, well the player before the one we are discussing has dual lasers one for CDs and one for DVDs. The took out the dual laser funtionality last april, shortly after I purchased my machine.
Scifi comes with basica cable where I live. Maybe you should move.......
Yeah like that makes any more sense than the original german it was written in. I'm still clueless.

Why isn't he sharing???
The way I secure my systems, is not to put them on a network, though it does make email a bitch...
