Curious... I am running the Mozilla based browser Phoenix. I really like it except every time I have to start IE for something it prompts me if I would like to change my default browser to IE. I uncheck the box that says "ask everytime" (or something like that) and it doesn't stop it from asking everytime. As long as stupid stuff like that happens other software vendors are going to be squeezed out. Out of principle I click no everytime and keep Phoenix as default but I shouldn't have to do that.

Out of all the tax dollars spent on this case and will continue to be spent on this case I didn't naivelly ever expect the gov to really nail them like they should. Judge Jacksons ruling got it, I knew that the odds of another judge getting it was about 1 in 10. M$ knew this as well so simply had to appeal and water the sentence down more and more. Not even a nuisance for them since all they had to do was pay lawyers to do that. Anyway back to my point, of all the tax dollars spent on this case I was hoping at least, at minimul they would get M$ to stop doing the silly sh*t like that Phoenix scenario. Something that would actually mean little but symbolically show M$ they didn't have completely free reign. Fact is worse case scenario happened. Which of course is basically nothing, so now they KNOW they pretty much get away with anything they want.

Sure someone new will not know what the drive partitioning means and could impact. For that they should have a 'default: I have NO idea what this is' option on that. But all my hardware was detected except the network card and from experience I do know how to do that. Maybe they should put an app in there to try and auto detect them better. So other than selecting the network card to use by hand the rest is hitting enter ??

One of the things that helped Bush is the wave of anti-intellectualism in the US. The schools going to hell with Reagan generated much of this, so has many other things however.

It is hard to see where this will lead. Many people don't want to see a rational intellectual discussion about the 'best' way to make things better anymore. Here in the US it is "liberal" or "conservative" not what is intellectually the best decision to make. The biggest example of the dire straits this has put us in is the supreme court decision in the presidential election that went down party lines. The last ground 'thinkers' had was in the courts and the R's are trying to really smash that down right now and that is why the D's are holding back so many judges.

For example take the policies of the current administration and expand them out say 25 years. If we continue on this type of path eventually every nation on Earth will hate us and want to destroy us by then. Is that a good thing? Of course not because every expansionist regime throughout history eventually has a large number of nations gang up together to destroy it.

Good thing is we will be having elections before to long and we can get someone in there with better policies.

If speed of creating the application and flexibility of changing that application need to be blazingling fast Perl is the choice. If Perl is not going to provide the application speed you need then use C or C++. That is why Perl is written in C :-).

If the Perl code you are reading isn't readible it probably had to be written too fast for the programmer to accout for that or else the programmer simply didn't care.
