The URL listed as my homepage runs it. I have really liked it. I didn't have to do a lot of home work to install it and all the little customizations I have done to it have worked well.
Can't actually say I have had any problems with it at all so haven't tried any of the others you have listed.
Is there a development suite that comes with every Mac or do you have to pay for it?
I am thinking about getting a Mac mini or an ibook and I am wondering about developing applications on it and how it would be for developing cross platform applications?
It is also a good example of why everything they do costs so much and takes so long to do.
Even though the unsexy-boring-overanalyzed way to go is the correct one the majority of the time, someone with the balls to put the hammer down, shake the steering wheel and yell yippee is exactly what is needed every now and then.
(In this case however I think the course of action has been correct, especially with how healthy that rover is. They may get A LOT more work out of her.)
That's part of God's design. The reason people are here according at least to the monotheistic faith's (Jew's, Christian's, Muslim's) is for a test where on judgement day they will be judged on how they did on that test.
There are many things God's keeps hidden from us and always will, like when we will die, etc.
So if you were a supernatural all powerful omnipotent being creating a test for people to judge them later on, why would you be concerned with them having all the scientific tools to "mathmatically figure everything out", if you did they would all get 100% and it wouldn't be a very good test then. The key to it is we all have the ability to get a very good grade but of course not everyone will. Some will spend there lives wondering why they can't figure out where God came from. Some will eventually realize it is part of the test. Some will get pissed off at it and say they are atheists, etc. etc. etc.
a theory that has been shown to explain the origins of life time and time again
The theory does not explain the origins of life. It is an observation of life interacting with its environment and the environmnet interacting with it.
This is something I thought about quite often during the campaigning of the last election. When Bush would not allow any non-supporters at his rallies. Heck, they wouldn't even allow anyone wearing a t-shirt they disagreed with.
Think about what our country would be today if they didn't let the people who disagreed with each other take part in the discussion while creating it.
4. It is permissible for the husband to have intercourse with his wife in her vagina in whatever manner he wishes, from behind or from the front, on the condition that it is in her vagina, which is the place from which a child is born. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will" [al-Baqarah 2:223]. Jaabir ibn 'Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Jews used to say that if a man had intercourse with his wife in her vagina from behind, the child would have a squint. Then this aayah was revealed: Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will" [al-Baqarah 2:223]. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "From the front or from the back, so long as it is in the vagina." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 8/154; Muslim, 4/156).
5. It is not permissible for the husband under any circumstances whatsoever to have intercourse with his wife in her back passage. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will" [al-Baqarah 2:223]. It is known that the place of tilth is the vagina, which is the place from which one hopes for a child. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "He is cursed who has intercourse with women in their back passages." (Narrated by Ibn 'Udayy, 1/211; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Adaab al-Zafaaf, p. 105). This is because it [anal intercourse] goes against the fitrah [natural inclinations of man] and is an action which is revolting to those of a sound human nature; it also causes the woman to miss out on her share of pleasure; and the back passage is a place of filth and dirt - and there are other reasons which confirm the fact that this deed is haraam. For more information see Question #1103.
This is similar to what I think about intelligent life beyond our planet. It seems to me very likely there would be other life out there besides our own. A reasonable chance too that this life is intelligent. If there is then some people wonder why it hasn't contacted us. My opinion is if there is intelligent life out there they probably have some rules about primitive civilations and contacting them. One would be how dangerous they are. If you look at our current state of affairs we are far far FAR too dangerous to be allowed to play in the galactic neighborhood. I wouldn't be surprised if some technological advances got us playing in that neighborhood that the neighbors might stop it real quick.
NASA is lobbying to be able to put up more prize money and I think putting out small amounts like this is simply to help them get support for the bigger amounts.
Over on Astobio.net they have an article where Neil deGrasse Tyson talks about the positive return prize money has yielded in real advancements. Seems pretty obvious how good they are for progress so this should help NASA's arguement that they should be able to put up more money. Another poster said they are limited right now to 250,000.
But campaign finance regulations, if they work, work specifically by obstructing political speech. The goal may be to keep corporations from buying influence, but when you do that by having the government make decisions about which organisations can and cannot freely pay to make their ideas widely heard, you do run into First Amendment concerns.
Your missing the point. Organizations can pay all the money they want to get their ideas widely heard if they do not harm individuals and it isn't breaking any other laws. They should not have the right to write a billion dollar check to flat out buy a vote for what they want. You would effectively yield all legislation decisions to the richest organizations or individuals then. Of course if we voted honorable people into office they could simply not take the money.
A good example someone posted above is giving money is not perfectly free nor should it be. You cannot give a police officer who is about to write you a ticket 100 dollars, for obvious reasons.
Churches, like corporations, are not people - should it be legal to prohibit churches from making statements on political issues?
While it is legal for a chuch to make political statements they will not be officially considered a church for very long if they do. They are not allowed to do this and will lose their tax exempt status if they do. They can say they are for or against abortion, but if they preach significantly to vote for one person over another they can lose their tax exempt status.
That is one of the first things I thought of when trying Gmail. It was a clean and effecient interface. A properly designed server centric OS could really do well. Server centric office suite would be a great start.
I log onto about 5 different computers each day and I would much rather have most of my settings and files centralized.
You make open office all Firefox compatible modules or extensions to make them enhanced web apps that work with the browser. Integrate Gmail into that a bit maybe or just leave it as is, it is pretty dang good just as it is. Then you have an online office suite you can use from any computer you want.
No matter how hard some business weanie up the food chain wishes not to pay people good, the hard fact is in QA you have to pay people enough to care what they are doing. QA work can be extremely boring and tedious. To get this done right the people need to be compensated and paid enough to give a rat's a**.
Actually I hope it keeps heading that way. Using shortened words to make things more efficient and quicker to write. I would actually prefer we create new small symbols for those words instead, and create a set of symbols (smiley faces already are starting to do this) to cite emotion or other inclinations.
Also introducing things into the langauge like that would help out Larry Wall with new versions of Perl:-).
All we have to do is find a way to add more mass to the moon there. With enough mass we could possibly get enough stress on the planet to start techtonic action, yielding lots of gases, plenty to raise the temprature.
Raising mass by collisions may sound rather difficult but imagine if we had the technology to track and predict movements of the millions of objects, rocks, etc. flying around the solar system. All you have to do if you get that is plan with a computer model what chain of collisions and nudges gets the right amount of mass to collide and stick to the moon on mars.
It would take a long time and we may also need some form of terraforming or weather control machines along with it.
One problem - the journalist, at the same time, is knowingly accepting information they know to be protected by an NDA, and that makes the actual act illegal.
Breaking an NDA is not illegal but gives the holder of the NDA the right to sue you in civil court (not criminal).
You mean the administration that rode the dot com bubble?
There was much more going on in the economy in the 90's. Check all the growth we had in sectors outside of technology. If your view of the economy is so narrow minded as to focus solely on if you like the administration in the whitehouse or not why even bother.
A HUGE component of economic health and garnering foreign investment is how the deficit is looking. These deficits continue on their current pace and the economic troubles that come our way will make everyone forget the.dot boom/bust ever happened.
First, he defines the terms a number of times in different ways.
Don't you think the number of times it is used and in so many different ways is a bit excessive and actually lazy?
He is using the word this way because it helps him paint dissenters as being against freedom. Also it is easier than trying to actually explain the real reasons.
I agree having some seasoned veteran coders mixed with some newby new technology guys can get a little rough with the old guys not respecting the young guys, and vice versa but it is not any worse than the normal drama that goes on everywhere. It creates a nice tug of war between the younger guys who think they can accomplish everything in 10 minutes and the older guys who think everything takes 10 years.
I think the original poster may be an older manager who by getting all young coders maintains better job security.
I am a younger guy in a mixed group and while it can be a pain in the arse it works well for the greater good of the group.

They really need to make it so they cannot attach measures like this to bills that have absolutely nothing to do with them.

I would think the hydrogen sulfide in the body would also induce hibernation in the microorganisms in the body. Slowing them down.

I think it is because many of the best people in the industry are out doing work instead of teaching.
:-).
In many of the commi countries the best people's best option is to teach, in the USA the best people's best option is to make huge loads of cash
Dang right she is.
Nice catch.
She is Rehnquist's flunky, no wonder.

I agree but I would say Knowledgeable_Staff_On_Good_Salary at least has to have say and a good amount of pull/power in the deadline.

Wow an optimist on Slashdot. All said and done Iraq alone will probably cost over 1 trillion.
