I recall over the summer reading a piece in the Wall Street Journal (http://blogs.wsj.com/atwork/2012/07/13/working-from-home-beware-a-career-hit/?mod=e2tw) Pointing to the fact that telecommuters aka people that work remotely are less likely to get promoted regardless of their productivity and work ethic.
Sorry but with this administrations credibility problems. I find it impossible to believe anything that's coming out of a crony infested federal agency.
The catch is that Dell doesn't truly intend on going through with OS X based systems. They are basically trying to get MS to lower their OS licensing prices.
Remember when we had something like that when Dell said that it will have AMD based systems?
What's so called BRILLIANT is the fact that now Microsoft can actually profit from their OSs flaws i.e. not bother to fix all the ones that can prevent spyware from getting in to begin with.
If you want it taken care pay us an additional fee and you'll be "safe". Protection fee?
However, on the Macs the OS is made to work with the hardware and vice versa. Does it mean that if this picks up. Manufacturers will realize the potential and make sure that their laptop's hardware is Linux friendly as well?
It was meant as a joke! A wink at all those that look for the Microsoft in everyting. I thought that by stating the obvious it would be perceived as such. I guess I should have added the smiley face.
I totally agree with the parent regarding the recording aspect. It is my impression that this isn't any different than what is currently happening with land line phone companies though.
During a television interview with Patrick Norton on what used to be TechTV. The head of the NSA had revealed that following 9/11 various "Random" phone calls are being monitored, using a monitoring system that is triggered by keywords, that are used during the phone conversation.
Apart from the fact that we now know that they use a wider range of sound frequencies isn't it somewhat presumtuous to say that the "...content of the messages have been deciphered."
You can install the perftoolbar for Mozilla. Once you have that, you can change the User Agent ID to IE or Netscape or whatever your financial website wants to "see".
You need to consider the size of the business and the size of the network that is being insured. Your network is small enough to be able to recover fast from any "cyber" risk. Provided that you have good backups and disaster recovery plan.
Notice what the G4's CEO said "... This merger is a win for G4; a win for TechTV; and a win for our advertising and affiliate partners," I didn't see anything about viewers. In other words I suspect that your worries will turn out to be founded.
I believe that the thing that needs to be addressed and stressed are the recent KNOWN vulenrability "outbreak". The fact that in order for one to keep up and deploy all the security patches that come out almost on a daily basis on all clients. One has to have dozens of man hours per patch. Which obviously translates to quite a bit of money.
Notice that I put shield in quotes. Trust me I'm not that naive. I know what makes them tick. The reason I used the term shield is because some companies and even societies "moral" claims. That's all. I do agree with you, that in reality they don't care about the social impact.

Quite alarming
I doubt this patch actually warrants the version number, 1.5.8. IMHO it's just a tie over until the release of Snow Leopard.
Would the reduced bandwidth lead to lower revenue??
Very well put.

Protection money. The last time I heard mob members were arrested for these practices.

I can totally relate. With me it's been like that ever since they had let Leo Laporte go.
When that happened I realized where TechTV was headed.
How about a software firewall like zonealarm that would block chatzilla from accessing the Internet
What scares me is that if they lost such a huge spacecarft can you imagine what else they could have easily "misplaced" without anyone knowing???
Does it have OnStar?

Now that Google is going public, what would prevent Microsoft from buying a massive amount of shares and basically taking over Google?
The first this that comes to mind is, version control, "CVS".
