And there are many reasons why we have the electoral college in place. The electoral college is an example of the great forethought of our founding fathers. If the majority rule was true you would have seen the USA collapse long ago.
I implore everyone to read and understand the electoral college and why we have it.
I have been using gmail backup for quite some time. You can run it from a batch file and fire it off once a day or more. The only problem is this. There is a problem with the IMAP protocol that was changed by Google some time ago. The gmail backup utility has never been updated so now there is a small bug in it. It marks all your email as read after you run the script. So for instance I run my backup at 9pm each night. Any email that I get between the time I last saw my email on my iphone or PC and about 9:10 is marked as read. Now that I know about this then no big deal. It took me a couple of days to figure out how it was happening. I knew I couldn't have seen some emails and they got buried from the previous day.
The only other thing which I am sure I could change if I wanted to was the script has to put in a hard date. So you run a backup from 1/1/2011. I am sure there would be a way to run it based of of the current day to go back 30 days or something. I just haven't taken the time to do it.
I just didn't want to lose years of history. I have had my gmail account now for about as long as gmail has been around. So I think I have 5 years of history now. I have only cleared out emails a few times and I barely hit the 25% mark.
And if they don't learn from history it will repeat itself... Sony is much larger than SCO ever was... so that is the only bad part. I bet those SCO lawyers are laughing all the way to the bank.
Sony does make a lot of products other than the PS3 system.... Perhaps a huge facebook driven boycott of Sony products... start messing with the bottom line and I bet they change their tune. Oh wait... facebook is evil... well yes it may be considered that especially by those reading this but perhaps it could be used for good... muuuaahhaahaaaaa
Years ago AOL told my best friend's mother tried to cancel AOL after getting Road Runner. They told her that she still needed an ISP. I quickly explained that Road Runner was her ISP. She could still use AOL software without paying the money. Finally she was able to get them to quit charging her. They got away with that for years. The most unethical business practices of just about any business out there. I am glad those crooks can sleep well at night knowing that they prey on the ignorance of others. Throw a bunch of technical jargon around and scare the caller into believing they need their service. AOL is like a bunch of thugs in a mafia short of the big guy coming by and breaking your legs for not paying.
Everyone has heard the stories of trying to cancel. It took a few recorded phone calls getting published online to show it to the general public before they made it easier to cancel the service.
In the end they will have to answer to God for all of their lies, cheating, deception, and fraud. I would love to see AOL close its doors but I know that is merely a dream. Perhaps in due time.
A previous poster was correct... a simple search for "Pentalobe Screwdriver" will yield the right tool for the job. They tried... they seem to keep pissing off customers... When the iPhone 5 is released with the new OS version 5 and all of the new features only work on the iPhone 5 I am sure they will piss lots more people off. I am tired of it already.
Doubtful... Once a right is taken away or a tax imposed they are rarely reversed. It is the slow progressive steps that we should be concerned about. If they can't get what they want by attacking it head on they will just go after it one small piece at a time. Ultimately they get what they want because they got it piecemeal.
So while you sit there and get lag from your wireless mouse, keyboard, & monitor the guy with the cheap stuff will just keep fragging away while you lag.
I would contend that it was neither. When you already know the password to a computer then you don't get credit for either. This was a criminal act similar to criminal trespass. If I was to leave my key on the front door of my house and someone used that key to enter my home it is still unauthorized access but wouldn't be breaking and entering. It would be a lesser charge. If she had actually cracked the password because they changed them when she was fired I would be more impressed.
He IT career is over... Once she gets out she will be flipping burgers b/c she was an idiot.
Really sounds like some crappy odds... The guy's name is one letter different and the birth dates are one year apart. This really does appear to be an honest mistake. The two pictures even looked a lot a like. It sounds like he did the right thing and contacted the police and cleared his "name" spelled with an "a" not and "e". I'm sure this isn't the first time something like this has happened but in this case I can see how it did happen.
I agree... at some point the lunacy has to stop and common sense has to come back into play here. If someone wants to do something evil bad enough they will do it. When you have extremists willing to kill themselves to insure 77 virgins in the after life for mass murder of the infidels then it is hard to compete with that. I don't understand the big deal of the full body scan... non evasive... or take option 2... the big guy feels you up and touches "your junk".
It seems like a simple solution... if you don't like it don't fly.
It appears the site is now down so the details of the story aren't readily available. This has some major implications for those concerned about security as mentioned by many of the above. AMD is going to have to address this because they need to close that off or it could spell major trouble for AMD as a company and a vast majority of users.
I totally agree. If someone is intent of during something criminal they will find a way. The best thing you can do is make it harder for most people to do. These types of attacks are so easy that almost anyone can do them without having to have a lot of really knowledge. Just like locking your doors and having alarms on your car and/or houses, it only keeps honest men honest. If someone really wanted to steal your truck they would just have to figure out how to quickly bypass your alarm. Generally they would just move on to the next truck that is easy.
When setting up wireless networks for clients I always recommend that they setup wireless security. I explain to them that these types of things can occur. Traffic could appear to be coming from your home that some scumbag used to surf child porn or do home grown terrorist research. Then the FBI comes knocking and the person has to deal with the wonderful government morons.
You get what you pay for. Sometimes free can be a great thing and sometimes its not.
In my experience outdated third party plugins like flash, reader and even java seem to be the way a lot of the attacks are happening lately. I watched a fake antivirus load to my PC after it somehow launch adobe reader about a year ago. An outbreak of fake antiviurses on machines revealed the same outdated version of java loaded on those machines. Sadly the end users affected normally were pretty good about their surfing habits even though the job required a lot of research work. It isn't just windows updates to worry about anymore.
The fact that Facebook is getting all of this negative press is not surprising. It has been known for a long time that Facebook is the root of a lot of problems relating to fake antiviruses and spyware etc... If Facebook is pulling down billions a year then investing in a couple of million dollars in equipment or infrastructure to handle the load is minimal. At some point it will simply self destruct and users will begin a mass exodus once more and more articles about the dangers of Facebook are written and IT Professionals and techies begin informing everyone that using Facebook is dangerous especially on a Winblows PC.
$10 billion does seems pretty cheap, look at the price tag for the shuttle program. The scary part is the "one-way" aspect. So what they take the astronaut scrubs and put them on that mission? They would have to put that person in a holding chamber until it reached Mars or they might hit the eject button.

Why are you posting on SD then? Shouldn't you be out harvesting our crops or something? BTW farmville doen't count.

Or "Why approve this?"

Should it be Don't Tase Me Bear?
Last time I checked I had to pay for internet service each month. What planet are you from?

So now you will want a flies in your soup? This seems a big ridiculous. You will have to pry ribeyes from my cold dead hands.

Well it is local news so I am sure the good parts will be blurred.... LOL

Isn't this what I just said?

Well, you can try counting atoms. But apparently that turns out to be a royal pain.
It is really hard on the eyes... unlike say my wife
+1
