Shouldn't they also be concerned about bacteria from earth contaminating Mars? I sure hope they have been. It would be a shame if we sent someone up there only to discover that Mars was crawling with life, but that the life rode to Mars on one of the earlier probes.
What non-US folks should realize is that although the laws permit this sort of thing, the *legal system* tends to punish it. Pennsylvania is an "at-will" state, but you can't imagine how difficult it is to fire someone. You may not be breaking any laws, but they can sue you (even if they were fired for stealing for example). At that point you can either stand up for yourself and risk everything in front of a jury made up of people who see you as a monster, or settle and spend a ton of cash to make the person go away.
If the people at this company were smart, they'd sue. The company is going down the tubes anyway. Better to get as big a chunk as you can before the morons in charge flush the whole thing down the drain.

Sounds like a stand-alone backup under VMS. Reboot standalone, do a backup of the idle system disk, reboot...I wonder if my VAXen enjoyed their dreams.
The big problem with relying on ethanol to reduce petroleum dependence is the fertilizer used to grow the grain is a petroleum product. Like so many ideas, this is just an example of moving the petroleum away from the consumer so they don't realize they're still dependant on it.

I had this once. Onset from DIVA. Order movies, watch them, pause them, fast forward, rewind. No commercials (except for "coming attractions). They maintained a good selection of movies (with some being dropped & some being added every month). All using a set-top box & a remote. It was the greatest thing ever.
Then Adelphia announced that the "trial run" was over and terminated the service. That was the first I knew that it was a trial run. Up until then, it was just a service they were providing.
I guess I'm the only one who thought it was great.
Cost about $7/month for the box & about $3.50/movie.
I don't think it is a violation of free speech unless they actually try to stop you from talking. Merely eavesdropping doesn't count. However, it *does* violate your privacy.
On "Philly" they had an episode where a moron client couldn't control himself (despite his lawyer trying to get him under control) & wound up in jail for contempt.
I have to agree. Not only are the wet wipes better for your ass, they may be better for the environment (takes a lot less wet wipes to clean up than it does toilet paper).
You're wrong. Try to teach them whatever you can. They just will not learn it. You don't have to worry about them not needing you. They don't *want* to know the esoteric stuff. Your position is secure.

That's easy to say, but *how* do you intend to reduce the power of the government?
What about poprelayd? All he has to do is check his mail (pop or imap) and he is automatically authorized to use your SMTP server from that host for some (configurable) time period.
My first thought after reading the materials on his web page was: Man, what an idiot.
It is unfortunate that Verio caved. On his page he says:
When thugs come onto your block and go from door to door telling you that if you don't change how you run your business, your knees will be broken, and your children harassed until you leave town, what do you do? Lots of people change their business or quietly leave town.
Unfortunately, he doesn't seem realize that HE is the thug who is forcing Verio to change how they run their network.
I was trying to think of why I had no interest in trying the Sims. Then I remembered:
Nick: age 3
Alex: 18 months
Why raise a simulation when you have the real thing .
Quite a few vacuum cleaners are devices which both blow and suck.
I apologize in advance for posting the extremely obvious comment below, but I can't help myself. I can't resist the urge to put it in writing.
Jamie Kellner is an asshole.
Sorry about that.

Death of Jim Henson...Death of Frank Zappa...
Are there any insane geniuses left in the world?

Some of my coworkers look like me...some of them talk like me...some even seem to think like me. Aw, crap! THE ALIENS ARE ALREADY HERE!

I still miss it.
Damn free love. It's a wonder there aren't more people with that virus.

Boy, you're lucky. I was ready to flame the crap out of you until I read that.
The real benchmark is instructions per second per dollar.

The CPU isn't the only part that generates heat. Other components do as well. The foam will insulate everything. Sooner or later something will fry.
Based on some of the projects that have been launched (& some of the calculations which have been done), it might be closer to 32m/s/s or 9.80ft/s/s.
On "Philly" they had an episode where a moron client couldn't control himself (despite his lawyer trying to get him under control) & wound up in jail for contempt.

Unless you wear many pairs of shoes, you're in danger of having the skin peeled off your feet. Not to mention gaining to much weight. I'd suggest:
1. Take off shoes
2. Make dinner
3. Lick my love pump
4. Goto 3
Although, even that will eventually lead to irritation.

Has anyone noticed that GWB pronounces "nuclear" like "nucular"?
