My android phone came with 2 email clients. One that was just for gmail, the other that was for everything. I only have gmail accounts on my phone and I don't use the gmail email client because I don't like it as much. It only came with one browser though. Shortly after I got the phone I installed Firefox Mobile and Opera Mobile, so even though it only ships with one browser, it takes 5 minutes to install a new one from the included marketplace app.

I did a similar thing except it wouldn't have been cost effective for me to switch carriers due to the family plan that I am on. I have had an iPhone 3g since release because it WAS the best smartphone at the time. Since then, I've been waiting for ATT to finally get a good Android phone at a good price. Saturday I upgraded to the Infuse 4g for $50 on sale. In a couple of hours I had all the functionality of my iphone including syncing with itunes plus a bunch of other stuff I didn't even know the android could do. I don't understand why people bitch and moan all day about how evil apple is. If it bothers someone so much, they should just buy a different product and get over it.

An intelligent person would say its a bit of that and a bit of the drive not being used by the vast majority of mini owners.

Oh really? I used mine yesterday to rip half a dozen cd's. A more intelligent person would say it's a good idea to not alienate your customers. In my household there is a macbook, a mac mini, and two iphones. My next laptop will be a PC. My next desktop already is a PC. And my next phone will be android. Not for this reason alone, but a series of stupid decisions apple has made over the last 3 years. Such as releasing IOS4 for 3g iphones making them unusable, and their OS release/support schedule that means my 3 year old white macbook will no longer receive any official updates from Apple.
