So what about the poor bastards (like myself) around these people on public transportation. My guess is commuters would have to the one of the larger markets. Do they include head phones with the phone? It sounds like a silly question, but really...

  2. Re:Legal Shortcuts on Australian Counter Strike Shooters · · Score: 1

If someone will drink responsibly at age 16, why make them wait till 18 or 21?

That is a very interesting question, one of which I have given a lot of thought. I started drinking when I was 14-15 years old. Was I responsible...well there was little I could, not old enough to drive, sex was just becoming a possibility, so the amount of real "trouble" I could find was rather limited. I continued this way until about 23-25 years old.

I found something out along the way. By the time I was 18-25 old enough to do stupid things, like drink and drive/fight/make drunken bad decisions, I was well versed in being drunk. I knew that I was not capable of preforming these actions will intoxicated from years of trial and error at a younger age.

So the point I am driving at, perhaps the real key is introducing these substances at a younger age, (when the child feel's ready) and by the time you are old enough to make "monumentally" bad decisions, you have made enough silly ones to understand that your thoughts and actions are impaired and too wait until another time.

I say this from watching other people around me make silly "intoxicated" mistakes, because they fail to realize they are under the influence and in-capable of making rational decisions. Now I am nearing 30 and rarely drink at all. I have long since ridded myself of the need to "party". I got it out of my system early on and am free to seek more challenging activities. The only thing in all of this that worries me, is I really hope I didn't brain my damage.

Dartmud has an excellent "school" to get you started, very well populated help files and a generally mature audience. I have never played Evercrack or any of the ilk, so as far as getting aclumated and learning curves, I am not sure. However, dartmud was my first mud, I was noted as a newbie and offered assicitance, to some degree. Just be polite, ask for, don't demand, help and you should be fine. Give it a try, its a great game, very little down time and an extensive world to explore, not just combat and magic either, plenty of crafts as well.

I played dartmud for sometime. More than once I have seen "racism" against avatar races. A public call to "string up all the elves" or "not let any elves into the city" (I am citing one instance here). There were Elven races right there in the vicinity. They heard these threats and quite frankly racist comments. Little was said or done. CAUSE ITS A FREAKING GAME PEOPLE! Jumping Jesus, calm down. Yes racism/sexism is bad, even in a fantasy world, but like real life, there are people like that, for better or worse. If it bothers you, plot against them, kill them, whatever you like, cause it's a game. I think everyone needs to take some time off, stop playing, step outside and breathe the air of the "real world" for a moment or two.

Did you read the comic before the Archie buy out? When the comic was still Eastman/Laird (somone correct my spelling).

All in all, the orginal black and white turtle comics where very good. The Archie bought the rights and turned into what it is now, something not nearly as cool (except for the video game spin off, great game).

The old comic was far more "adult" oriented. They have been re-released into grapchic novels and some still survive in the TMNT Roleplaying games (also much fun).

Very simple answer for you. You like Debian, I like Slackware, my work uses RedHat, but we are switching to SuSe soon. Some people like Mandrake, other's swear by Gentoo. Every Distro fills a niche, every person has a niche. The more distro's the better. If you have an issue with an array of choices, you can use Windows or Solaris. Some of us really like to have a distro that provides EXACTLY what we want.

You can not please all the people all the time, but giving people more choices increases your chances greatly.

Ummm, if your mechanic does not excpect you to know or show you how to check your fluids and keep your car in the correct running order, time to get a new mechanic. YES! Mechanics should show you basic car mantianice. If not, time to find a new mechanic.

The first time I went to my mechanic he showed me all the basics, I neglected to tell him that I was a veteran shade tree mechanic, because hell, I just may learn something.

I always, always explain to people what I am doing on thier computer. Two reasons, one they just may be interested and start learning on thier own. Two that we they can never come back and say "You didn't tell me you were doing this". The same thing any good mechanic should do, explain what he is doing and why, and make best effort (in simpler cases, fluids and such) of showing you HOW!

Money to pay for maintanice isn't something you can always count on. However the knowledge to fix it, is usually more reliable.
