I honestly think that Apple's biggest rival, as it stands right now, is itself. I know that when the 4th generation iPods came out I was tempted to sell my 3rd gen. iPod to purchace the new one. I doubt that I'm alone in that as well.
Yup, that's all done in realtime. And from what I hear, the game will have some interesting features. Supposedly if you walk by with somebody has the same game the dogs will interact with one another, though I'm sure how, but it sounds interesting.
Don't forget the hardware too for the USB connectivity. The Mac versions were Firewire
The first iPods to work with Windows used Firewire too. The first generation iPods were Mac and Firewire only. The second generation were Mac and PC but still Firewire only. The third gen were Mac and PC and could be hooked up via Firewire or USB by using the new dock connector. The fourth gen is the same (compatability and connection wise) as the third gen iPods but can now charge over USB.
I played the open multiplayer beta that they recently had and enjoyed it, though I'm not a big fan of the way they've reworked the vehicles spawns.
Anyway, I kind of wish they would have included more or different maps with the demo instead of the four that they had in the beta. While these maps are fun, they do get old pretty quickly.
I was up there a few weeks ago myself (it's only about an hour away from me, fwiw) and it sadly it did break down but considering that I was in line for an hour total it wasn't too bad.
Damn me and my horrid spelling. Anyway, I'll agree with you on that. I have a problem with anybody, from any party setting up these supposed free speech zones.
Interestinly enough, one time my dog did rip my homework to shreds. Of course my teacher laughed when I told her and then I whipped out the note from my mom and and the evidence incased in a ziplock bag.
Honestly, how can you prove that you voted? Unless she makes everybody present one of those "I voted today" stickers they hand out at the voting centers.
Since all previous Nintendo handheld systems have had no region blocking, It'd be a safe bet that this one doesn't either.
Note: There is no "PAL" version of the DS as it doesn't output a television signal. However, the European version will have a different charger than the North American version, just like on the GBA.
Somebody posted a few of the non-edited versons on the something-awful forums. It was kinda creepy when this thing first hit the net (I remember seeing it for the first time on the penny-arcade forums) but then it get's kinda funny seeing other people's reactions when they still think it's real.
Unless it's something turn-based, which are pretty rare cases these days.
You must not play a lot of console RPGs. The majority of those games are turn based based. Major Final Fantasy games (excluding 11) are turn based as, as is the Tactic Orgre series and pretty much anything put out by Atlas. Not to mention the Advance Wars games out on the GBA.
It's not so much the antialiasing that neededs work, but the fact that the game run in the Playstation2's low resolution (something like 320x240). If you go back and play it and then any other PS2 game you'll know what I'm talking about. But other than that, yeah, the engine for ICO was really pretty, especially considering that it's a first gen game.
The ragdoll physics have been around since the original Hitman 2000
Actually Hitman was beat by Trespasser (released in either 97 or 98). They physics engine was amazing at the time, even if the game was a commercial flop.
As for the "Free Speech Zones", those were in front of the Democratic Convention, in the Democratic-controlled city of Boston, practically the home town of Senator John Kerry. I didn't see such limited zones in front of the Republican convention in New York City, which has a Republican mayor and a Republican governor. Kind of shoots down your tin-foil hat conspiracy theory, doesn't it?
It's not like the Republicans haven't set up their own free speech zones before..
ePSXe seems to work great as a Playstation emulator and it's free to boot, though you'll need a BIOS file, which a quick search on google will yield. You can play orignal PSX cds, backups and ISO images.
As for N64 emulation, I'm not too up on it, but Project64 seemed to work pretty well from my limited experience with it. The problem is that the N64 is a fairly hard machine to emulate and many times they had to test individual games and work on getting those working.
So don't use the earbuds that come with the iPod. Personally I can't stand them so I use a different set of headphones anyway.

Crap, I had totally forgotten about the Nomad. Whoops.
Look at the Sega handhelds. They've always been a much better product than the gameboy, but they still couldn't crack it.
Sega has only released one handheld, the Gamegear.

I'm a little more conserned about Pier 57 to be honest.
Damn, I should have caught that.

An interesting aside to this article, Fox reporters harrassed students trying to register their peers to vote in Arizona..
Are you going to be dictating it?

Ahh, I wasn't aware that it was for online games. I'm pretty sure the last few games from the Worms franchise have online play and it's turn based.
Can you mix 3D APIs? I was under the impresion that you could have a D3D renderer, an OGL render, a renderer, but you couldn't mix them.

Or have they?
What about SDL?
I didn't realize that there even were USB stick drivers for DOS...
That's becuase (atleast on my motherboard), it's a setting in the BIOS.
