The problem is that they may not have enough data.
For instance if your tires were spinning, it could record you going a lot faster than you actually were, but the blackbox has no way of telling that, it will just simply record the speed your tires were spinning at...regardless of how fast you were going...
Not really impressed with it yet. Grabbed it at work this morning, went to add around 30,000 mp3's....it worked for awhile and promptly crapped out on me.
I think bluetooth won't be used for what it was designed as much, but a better alternative to conventional short range wireless.
For example...Logitech and microsoft both have offerings now that use bluetooth, that allows conference rooms and the like to use them from long ranges.
Logitech has a new keyboard out that you can read about Here. Basically is a 3 piece set. Keyboard, Number pad (that has an lcd and functions as a remote also), and the mx900 mouse (bluetooth version of the much famed mx700).
Anyhow, not that you'll connect any other devices, but it looks like most places are going with this...
I used to think this was a great idea. Until I started overclocking my box, and building my own systems.
If I run at 100% processor utilization, my case heats way up, causing my room to be noticably hotter, plus the fans are always running...and with the higher case temperatures come higher failure rates in everything...
If you could have it use..say 40% of the processor, I would be all game...
As long as they just simply use this as a platform to run the ATM software on, I think it will be reliable.
Back in the day, I setup a Windows 98 box, used 98Lite to remove all kinds of junk, got the install down to 40-50mbs I believe. That machine booted insanely fast, and it was very reliable, never saw a blue screen on it, etc.
I think if they strip it down, go as far to make certain things not executable, and close ports, etc, I think it could be just as good as what we have. Then again, why are they changing this? It works, and how many more features can you get out of it?
I think it's kind of ironic...on their page it goes through the products affected, NT, XP, etc.
And then they say Windows Me is not affected, not is 98, or 95, but you should upgrade to the newest versions. To the end user, that would kind of be like, I could upgrade to the newest versions, and then be vulnerable to all of this...why would I.
Actually on the new logitech keyboards the communication is encrypted.
You do have to go into the options and turn it on, and go through the options, but after that, it is encrypted. The mouse is not encrypted, then again, what can you learn by obtaining coordinates. The keyboard is the one to worry about. I don't think the encryption is that good, but at least it scrambles for that a normal eavesdropper cannot get it.
My original logitech keyboard/mouse combo I got 3 years ago (only ps2) did not have it, but I have since acquired 3 additional sets, the latest being the MX Duo, and they all have the option, and they are all on, in fact I'm typing from one right now, no delay whatsoever.
I know there has been tons of Ham Radio stuff posted to/. recently...
My question, is there a beginners FAQ or anything written up? I'd love to get into it, get my callsign/license and then some equipment, problem is I don't know exactly what all there is to get, or what I need....
Kind of like *NIX needs a better way to promote itself, sounds like Hams could use this also...
True that...I guess I didn't really ever use 97, just 2000.
I guess the default functionality has been pretty much the same, although I remember 97 having a few weird glitches, and not being as smooth...but that could be just me:).
At work I use Office 2000, and use Excel a lot, etc.
I was previously using XP (2002) at home, and I noticed that there wasn't anything added on to Excel, or really to anything, just made it more "prettier".
The same is true with 2003, save Outlook which has been revamped.
It seems as MS is insisiting on keeping the same things. I know there are things here ad there that are updated, but nothing that would make you want to upgrade over 2000, and that's pretty sad.
It sounds like the ethernet port is only attached when the player is docked?
So this basically means you could dock it in your living room next to the stereo..and update it via the network, and use it as a mp3 server, etc. This in itself would rock.
Norm Coleman is one of my representatives, I voted for him, and I support him.
However, it seems like him and a few other companies are now opposing this because the majority of their constituents are opposing this. Norm Coleman is a good guy, so maybe he is actually looking out for his well being, however, generally this isn't the case.
SBC fights this to show that their ISP is Kazaa friendly, what a great selling point. If MN residents see that Mr.Coleman is fighting something that affects them (wether or not it is right), they will probably vote for them.

Maybe this will be a good way to get my company to fund my PHP Cruise.
Too bad we're all Perl/JSP Shop.
I really don't think it will be that bad.

The actual theoretical max is 7kilobytes/second.
What the FCC allows by law is 6.625kilobytes/second. (53k)

Just thought it was funny.

SCO is doing some DIRTY WORK aren't they.

I just tried out a copy of Office 2003.

Whoops! The real url is
http://popfile.sourceforge.net/
They started off by quoting John-Graham Cumming, et they didn't include his brainchild PopFile.
Check it out Here.
Well, I paid some money also and got the 2.0 BETA right now.
However I got about 50 of the emails...so....but supposedly it will be fine since MSN 6 protocol is already in it.
You gotta watch the trailer for "The Comedian".
m l.
It's so great, however it's only in quicktime, sorry *nix folks.

BTW: It references that...and you'll laugh..guaranteed.
This is off-topic...
But has anyone else noticed there are a ton less commments now that 20 million people have no electricity?
Then magically their pristine hat turns black.
Step 3.5: Corrupt poll worker gives 200 votes.

The only problem I can see with this...is it would be really easy for anybody to send out a DDOS attack now.
Just get some spam software, throw your friends server name in the email, and everybodies computer helps out in taking it down.
Sure it sounds ok, but i'm sure there are ways around this, staggering types of emails that are sent etc.
John's PopFile software works almost perfect right now, granted it's a client side application, and this is looking to take care of the problem....
GPS and flight path isn't really the challenge in this matter.
It seems that keeping under the 11lb weight, and also allowing for enough fuel for a 3,000 mile flight. Now that is tricky.
It was named after another great aviator...Beecher Butts, an 88 year-old aviation enthusiast.
Check out National Geographic article on it.
