Do you know much about how DC works? Seriously I lived there my whole life and I'm tied to the US Federal government closely. I think it's hilarious that people like yourself think there's a huge difference between the two parties. Guess the bullshit machines are working.
You see this come in to play with de Icaza himself. Just look above in the comments. He's a "sell out" even though he probably has written more software for Linux than anyone here. So here he is trying to make Linux better and he's been cast as an outsider because he wants to make it mainstream and now works for a company that took money to make that happen. These guys must eat ideology cereal or something.
They aren't "valid" in the sense that although they meet the algorithm for validation they were not created by MS, who can in fact tie those codes back to SKUs and track the purchase. I know that's how I do it. But I also validate against that list on the fly because I'm not fucking retarded:P
Seriously this is like checking a credit card using Luhn but never actually validating it by doing a capture via a payment gateway. It's laughable and I bet someone got fired for it.
I'm from DC and I have many years of experience translating political statements. What he really means is "I'm currently looking for a large corporation I can kick this too and get perks in the form of lobbying, parties, comps, and a job after my work here looting the government is done. Whether it's a good thing is of little concern for me actually."
I don't know about you guys but I have a strict rule on touching. Don't do it unless you are female and we have chemistry. Otherwise I'll give you a It's Always Sunny Mac-style punch to the face. 18 inches of personal space, respect it.
I'm still not in love with client technologies but I knew they were powerful when I first dug into "DHTML" and created an animation using nothing but html and js. Essentially it's still the same recipe, with server-side powering the whole thing. Good times.
But yeah, agreed. I used to scoff at the title myself but these days I'm in awe at the power of "UI programmers" who well versed in both client side and design elements. They code JS, they do graphics, they know design, they write server-side web APIs, and they're experienced in "Rich Internet" development like Flash and Silverlight. It's downright impressive.
And even if they do present reliable information they present it in the driest most boring tone ever created. They suck the fun out of learning. When I was a child I used to get excited when I saw a shelf of encyclopedias. I can't imagine wikipedia does the same for kids these days.
Yeah and that is the down side to it all. They have to make their tools more attractive to developers, which they are working on. But it's a long row to hoe. They have a bad reputation and their tool set leaves a lot to be desired when compared to other "Rich Internet" tools.
They get $1B USD from one of the most powerful corporations in the world. A company that is known for pulling 180s and turning around and making billions from it. A company that has a device in almost every house in the western world and a huge media network with millions of subscribers. Now they want to expand to a market with some very powerful offerings.
And this is the time to sell their stock? You're thinking emotionally not logically sir.
Israel too.
It depends. If Michael Douglas can get the information to the press in time Hanoi Jane can stop it possibly. We'll see.

It's important to remember the moral of this story - never try. Good job guys.
But I'm more direct, I'll just call you an asshole. No need for fluffing it up.
Thank God my useless knowledge doesn't go to waste. What's high score mean? Did I break it?
Wow you saw through my soul and read my like a book. Do you play poker? You should read people for a living. Luls.
It never fails here on slashdot, someone comments nicely and then at the end they call me an asshole in a roundabout way. Cool beans. Have a nice day.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Yeah I'm real sure you don't judge anyone anywhere. What are you a fucking robot? Delusional thoughts from fantasy island.
It's not in human nature to judge people? Human history disagrees.

And Trollertron3k Deems Submitter Retarded!
Don't you guys realize we'd read the stories without your hype? For the love of God can we get an accurate headline this week?
Wheaton's law? You mean Karma? I'm fairly sure that idea is as old as written language.

I'm not homosexual but now I'm intrigued. Is that you Lexington Steel?

That's what's most impressive! It's like playing wack-a-mole with browser issues.

Yes but unlike writing this can be easily duplicated. Writing using someone else's style isn't an easy task. Doing it with a keyboard, very easy.

Well you're welcome to your opinion. Just sayin' that counting Microsoft out is kind of crazy.

They're a mega corporation. They sold out when they were created. It's their whole reason for being.
