    They should have know better than bulling music makers. That industie even tougher than the software makers.

    The proper solution if to fill the music player arena with patents involving everything about transering music (not excluding music) to external players and sue every producer that does not license their software.

    Loosing the menu, and especailly all the trailers are the reason i do not use disk i bought from disney, but i make a "movie only" rip from the disk.

    My 3 year old son(target group of disney?) can just pop-in the dvd into the player and watch it.

    I bet the screener disks are already cleaned of all the trailers.

    GNU/Linux is somehow compatible with minux.

    They both run most of the gnu toolset. Note that minux has more of a bsd like license. "Redistributions in binary form must reproduce the above copyright notice...". Note that the minux distirbution contains a lot of the (GPL) gnu tool.

    Why would I want to use a time-limited demo when I can simply download VMWare, spend five minutes finding a keygen for it...

    If you run a company earn money with your nerd skills, it is not only fair to actually buy the software, it might cost you a lot more if a disgruntled (ex-)employee reports you to the BSA.

    Buy it you write any software, after this comment, I am happy to create a keygen for it.

    Detecting a 3d move? now you overestimating the possiblities af such an algoritm on a processor challanged platform.

    The difference between a moving picture and a actual moving person may be very hard for an algoritm that was designed to extract key facial features.

    500 years ago amirica was discoved (from the spanjard view), look what is acutally left of those ships.
    2000 years ago the roman empire ended. Most what left of is are some ruins and some idea's
    5000 years the piramids were build, look what is left of that. They are eroded. We have a vague clue of their purpose. (storing mummmies, but mummies were never found in it?)
    10000 years ago? Star-gate might be right about it, maybe man did not exist in it's current form.

    You might enineer it well enough to measure a wobble of the earth, but to actually package it so it can survive 10.000 years and still have a meaning is not only an engineering feat, it must be an antropology feat as well, to make people long after this understand what it is and leave it in pieces.

    No we did not implement booting puppy linux from a flash disk. That has never been done before. Especially it is untested from a intel motherboard.

    Doing the actual update might help. Now it downloads the update (=full package actually, not an update) and put it at a download location, defualt = desktop. You then have to shutdown the browser and run the update, and pray everything still works (very importnt if you installed in a non-default location). Userfriendly, but i thought installers could handle .dll & exe 's in use a long time ago?

    You would have a better change predicting mythbuster if it involves blowing things up. For instance a cow could not be slignshottend into a castle.

    Anyway, I fail to se how you can aim 100+ mirrors manually at a single spot. If it is aimed correctly you cannot see your lightspot in the burning spot since it much too bright. If you see a mirror that is not focussed it is very hard to tell which mirror, you will have to check all of them.

    With a non-moving boat at 100 feet this is one thing, but managing 100+ people in a live environement is far more difficult, and this really is no prove this is possible to do this.

    Busted, i would say. (until someone proves me wrong. )

    Unfortenutly military( != researchers) are not preparing the next war, but most of the times the previous war. In response to the 2nd world war russian preparared to fight the war ships & the -abomb as insurace against the a-bomb. Lot's of bomb's created as response for the 1991 iraq war because a lot of the hardware was not created for a dug in enemy. lot's of non-lethal weapons are created in repsonse to to somalia like invasion. If i really was interrested in this sort of thing I could go on, but you really can see that the biggest investments are made in weapons that would have been great if they were used in last war.

    The maid(male/female). Getting data there is much more profitable than cleaning 30 rooms in an hour. They don't have to have the tecnical expertise, someone will provide it for them. People who can affort > 200 euro a night can affort to loose some (compagny) credit cards now and then.

    nearly all networks are full to the brim with idiots.

    The same goes for system administrators. The corporate network is full of idiots who think they are great admins because they can install product x. Giving these idiots self-replicating code could cause great damage beyond your imagination. Most damaging worms are damaging because some rate limiting code is not coded correctly, or simply not understood by their creators.

    you could probably walk to areas with mostly intact infrastructure in an hour or two.

    Walk seems to be correct. However since the army will be al over it, and there is more terrorist threat, you will be shot trying to leave a suspect area. By foot is most dangerous, a bus might be more appropiate.

    If you do not believe me look a New Orleans. Many people failed to leave the area in the days after because roads were close by men with guns. And in that case there was no terrorist threath.

    So make sure you have a stash of money to buy your way out of a disaster area. That is worth far more than your encrypted /sealed usb stick.

    Storing that data encrypted on the internet on a offshore site might help you not to worry about picking up that usb stick.

    xp is still supported, meaning they might upgrade any interface for XP. For windows 2000 they don't have to do that and just will yell that it is an unsupported OS.

    Yep, what means you have to upgrade to an supported OS to be able to connect vista? Since win2000 is not supoorted they won't be upgraded and they cannot connect to vista.

    Upgrade in the name of security!

    Of you can go deep down in vista and enable an option for OLD/depreciated NTLM supported, giving you much popups about that your OS not being safe WARNIGN WARNING WARNING.!

    Yes, The principle is very much the same. To feed it into the "mutual cache" you first have to store the data. During the store phase it passes several peers. During the download phase it passes also multiple peers.

    So in the end the anonimy is reached by passing it over a unknown number of peers. There are smart optimisations for this, but in the end it not as efficient as an real peer to peer network.

    If you want to download large files (music/movies) freenet will be slower (relative) by the very same design. Since all data will have to pass over multiple peers to reach anonimity. Since a lot of users are on asymetric (adsl/cable) lines upload speed is the thing that determines the actual speed of the network.

    For a non-anonymoes network the upload speed = the download speed. for an anonymoes network the downloadspeed = uploadspeed / average numbers of peers it goes trough. that is divide ~6-7 in the simulations i believe). Caching is a way to optimize, but you will NEVER reach the speed of direct peer to peer transmission.

    (udp spoofing would solv some of it, but most isp's filter it out nowadays. )

    Just remember freenet is designed for free information exchange, not for optimal downloading of files. Freenet has it''s good points, speed is relatively not one of them.

    And rememeber to use the optimal network, do not forget http/usenet!

    Emule is by design faster than freenet because is has less overhead.

    Plus there are bots on emule/edonkey network that steal all the bandwidth and download everything.

    Note that emule is a file sharing applciation, not a file trading application like bittorrent is.
