  14. this game majorly suseptical to cheating? on Black & White Goes Gold · · Score: 1

Hmm.. im wondering.. with the massive growth in online games recently, we have seen a huge increase in the number of cheats made (hacks).. There are hunderds of cheats for the most popular game Counter-Strike around, as well as lots of possible cheats for Diablo 2.

But, this game will probably be extremerly volnerable. Reading through the material, it seems that the game is played both on the net, and on your single pc.. where you actually play the SAME game.. for example, you login, you train your critter, destroy a few villages etc.. then, you log off the net, and you can continue to train your critter and get your villagers to worship you.. You then log back on, and you still have your newly trained critter and lots of worshiping power that you got when you were offline...

So... it seems it would be quite easy to hack.. someone could simply create a hack that gives your critter the ultimate strength and intellegience and makes all your peasents love you...

what means do the game writers have to stop this? none that i can think of....

  16. A semi solution.... on Better Mouse Drivers For X11? · · Score: 1

Using a mouse driver set called 'JAM' and IMWheel, you can bind your 4th and 5th (6/7 if you count the wheel) normal buttons to the Thumb button, which IMWheel can then use to emulate a keypress...

Basically.. over with my howto of LHL I was able to play CS with: Mouse 1, 2, 3. Mousewheel up/down and the two thumb buttons - only constraints: the thumb buttons pressently act as one button, because of IMwheel, the guy that wrote IMWheel and JAM is also going to write XWheel which will support much more buttons. Also, its kinda hard to get working, still some bugs.. but if people start using it, then maybe he can get some help from other developers!

I know exactly what you mean - sometimes its not even being shut down, but being pushed out of the market.

In Australia, the "big 4" isps dominate the market, deciding bandwidth costs for the smaller ones, and basicall last year i was forced to leave my nice friendly isp, were they knew me by name, there was a closly nit group of people on the newsgroups and irc channels from that isp.. i was forced to leave because of the costs that they offered ($35au - for 250mb 56k VS $70au - unlimited cable - 100kb cap)...

I still look forward to the day i can come back to them (if/when they get adsl) - but im not sure they can survive much longer - with the current rate of customers leaving, and probably before long the big take overs happening in the US will come here..

im afraid, in this commercial free market economy this is bound to happen, until we have only one or two big companies in each industry, thats what is so wrong with the current economic systems, and there is nothing we can do!

Ok, i think that all you people rambling about "what about 1 click shopping" are missing the point..

becuase, the thing would have to be INTELIGENT!..

for example, say if im on slashdot.org and there is an add for thinkgeek, pointing to the "thinkgeek.com" domain, ofcourse it wouldnt get that - as that is on a different domain..

if it looks like a big message board, with lots of links, ofcourse it wouldnt follow it.

also, itd have to have a selectable read-ahead level - default would be only 1 level - hence if i did it on slashdot, it would goto the "read more's" - and a few others, but owuldnt KEEP GOING..

there is so much more intelegience it could have - eg, if it discovered on slashdot i never clicked the "rob's page" link, it would stop getting that after a while..

and ofcourse, to save space, these links would have a low expiry time (30min)..

shouldnt be to hard to implement into squid, maybe theres a plugin somewhere.,.
