I ride the buses here as well and am strongly in favor of the cameras, as a means of fighting pickpockets, harassment, graffiti, and other crime. Anyone who wants to blind these cameras should consider the consequences.

It adds a "substantial non-infringing use" exception to the anti-circumvention rule. This is a good thing as it would legalize many of the tools (e.g. DeCSS) that are currently barred, n'est-ce pas?

Of course it's not going anywhere in this Congress. But advocates for freedom can push for an expanded version to be introduced now, while giving Boucher credit for at least proposing a step in the right direction.

Sounds like a Teamster pissed at the non-union competition. Who made you the one to say whose jobs they are? If someone wants to work in tech, great, let 'em. If you're more qualified, you'll get the job instead, right? In the words of the late Clara Peller, where's the beef?

  8. Not the same thing on Apple Shuns DRM Efforts So Far · · Score: 2, Insightful

CDs provide more functionality than vinyl. WMA provides less functionality than CDs. Why would anyone switch, given the cost? And don't tell me that it will be required by law, because if all those Discmen out there don't work people will scream. (Example: the utterly dead-on-the-vine HDTV.)
