  1. automated systems are great! on Online e-Commerce Issues w/ PayPal? · · Score: 1

Paypal is somewhat of a pain to use, especially for real time transactions... the way it works:

    1. customer deposits cash to your cgi
    2. cgi redirects user browser to paypal site with appropriate information, which includes callback url.
    3. User dances around and then completes transaction.
    4. Paypal when confirmed transaction submits on POST https request to you a completed transaction details - on return URL, you must call back to paypal, to verify that transaction is not a hoax.
    5. Transaction is done, you have the money, so you reimburse user in goods and services in completed amount.

Trouble is, there is TWO urls, one is RETURN url and other is POST url. Paypal will post transaction details to POST url in some arbitrary length of time, while user will got to REDIRECT url right away. This poses a problem for web services, fact that money is not on website when user IS!

I have yet to see a good (from technical point of view) implementation of web cash services.

Because most public is not able, interested or have time to pick apart lawyer made contraptions. structure in mind. Companies build products, on
single request of head person. Basically a request
comes in and so the project begins. In
present structure, decisions are made high above
people, such as taking out that button, or taking
this screen away and moving it here. There's
not consultancy with people who will receive the
end products, because they are considered consumers,
dumb and not knowing what they want.

Company shall provide consumers with service - thats not what most do. They build software,
and shove it down customer's throat.
Furthermore - programmers, are seen as a cement
mixers - ones who just need to know how to type,
and they will make something. Programmers are of
    least importance in corporate structure.
People come from other places and expect
programmers to be like factory workers or
journalists - make a volume, and you will be
    qualified for high salary.
It's a nightmare. Its like everyone is confused,
in denial on what needs to be done, or even
does not know what needs to be done, so they
    make it up!!!

Way to eliminate problems as earlier poster said
is way of XP. Where managers are merely communication
inducers. Customers are responsible for vision
of the project. And coders are responsible
for making of the code. This way projects
are grown, they are never wrong, and if they are,
that can be easely adjusted on early stages.

In most companies focus is wrong - they try to
get everything done and make a shiny thing for
customer, whike XP makes software for customer
that fits them, and maybe not as shiny but more
natural. Architects role therefor is wrong for
99% of the software projects. Customers
shall decide what should go into project and
what should not. They pay by hour for development,
so they shall control it as that, and so they shall
    be responsible for results.

Being Architech is partaking in process full of

Questions wether users may strike back and use controls to their own advantage is somewhat valid, but evolutionary one. Everyone can guess, but no one can predict. Guesses that are in same direction are lucky.

My guess is, media controls are swing of large media to make more money, rape the customer, before they go out of existance. Whats more, is that media controls encourage waste, digital and physical one. If CD plays only 3 times, I have to throw it out. That would contribute to already large amounts of waste this world produces.
If I can hear song three times, I have to redownload it, and bandwidth is not free(network admins have to eat too). My contention is that maybe if media control systems are there, and open for everyone to use, then small artists can gain from that, combining digital control and digital revolution. Truth is, corporations will impose a certain way of media control, patent it, and quash anyone who uses it and does not pay licence fees. Thus artists who are not part of RIAA would be extorted from income, ability to make, record and sell music that most common media players will play.
