As much as i don't like windows 8, the price hike is not due to slow sales of windows 8, but a push to hosted services. What Microsoft is trying to do is make it more expensive to run an in-house clout that to use the existing cloud they host. I have already done a cost comparison for my employer and as of a month ago it was a wash, it cost the same to host our environment in the cloud as to support it locally over a 5 year span. Now if you raise the price of the local licenses, well now the cloud looks more enticing.
years of bitching that OEM's don't sell Linux products and everyone is forced to buy one with as Microsoft license. Now a decent machine comes out and you bitch about the price. Instead of bitching about it, how about embracing the fact that Dell took the time to hire people to design and support a small niche market. Or be happy that Linux is gaining ground in the market.
have you ever had SAP implement any thing? Cost over runs, poor code, revolving door on dev's, seriously has any one ever had a solution implement by SAP that was not over hauled in a 3rd of the time roughly a year later.

not sure why I'm surprised at the stupidity of this and how it impacts every cloud computing business. So long Amazon cloud service, Azure, Google, and any other service that claims protection in the cloud.
Not necessarily Microsoft that had people switching. Fire Firefox's ever growing memory footprint, and frequent update cycle that broke extensions are main reasons people stopped downloading FF.
unless there is some breakthrough in battery life in the next 5-10 years, having a 48 core cpu run on a mobile device for 5 minutes before depleting is worthless.
Children should be micro-chipped until they are age 18 with GPS tracking. After that they are considered an adult and should be allowed to have it surgically removed.
Of course , as some one who does not have children after watching the red-necks breed where i live, i also think they should also be put on leashes , not allowed in any public area including grocery stores, malls, movie theaters, or any where else i may want to go and not have to see your disobedient kid putting its disease infused hands all over everything.
