    I think the VX1000 would be a lot better if you could use the touch screen and the keyboard at the same time. Why would anyone want to write text messages with a touchscreen when you have a keyboard.

    It is free software, it is just gpl-incompatible.
    The CATOSL is similar to the Apple Public Source License version 2, which is free software acording to the FSF.

    I guess that some parts of the faq are a bit outdated

    Question 111: What operating systems/CPUs do you support
    Mono currently runs on Linux, Windows, Solaris, FreeBSD, HP-UX and MacOS X.
    There is a JIT engine available for x86 processors that can generate code and optimizations tailored for a particular CPU.

    Interpreters exist for the SPARC v8, SPARC v9, Itanium, HP-PA, PowerPC and StrongARM CPUs.

    the difference is that apple doesn't have the same marketshare as microsoft has. Apple would be in problems too if the they controlled 90% of the desktop market.

    Maybe because Microsoft is a twice convicted abuser of their monopoly position and frequently use either legally questionable or outright illegal methods to harm their competitors? Sun looks like a saint next to Microsoft.

    You need to have a monopoly position before you can absuse abuse it. And I see no reason to give Sun a monopoly to see how they handle it.

    Microsoft's VM was created without an opensource java. c# was created without java at all.

    there are many in incompatible closed-source c++ compiler. gcc solved that problem by becoming the defacto c/c++ compiler on linux.

    Windows does have many problems with library incompatibility issues. never heard of dll hell?

    I still don't see the problem with opensourcing java.

    Could you back that up with an real example?

    I haven't seen that happen with perl or python. So, I doubt it will happen with java.
