I've gone for 7W LED spotlights to replace the 50W GU10 halogen thingys. All good so far here; but check with one bulb for colour and dispersion angle though before you shell out for all the fixtures. I like mine whiter, but some people don't, and the spots are close enough together that beam angle doesn't matter too much here.
Here in UK, our DoE-equivalent have computed on-shore wind as being close enough to coal - and we're running out of coal, so I'm guessing it will be marginally cheaper in few years.
No - they're looking for reasons not to believe it. First, it wasn't happening. Then we cycled through a whole bunch of variables (solar output, etc) which don't explain it. Then we had the "it's happened forever". Yes, but not this quickly. Most of these alternate hypotheses don't bear a couple minutes scrutiny.
You're late to the party. The "controversy" happened in the mid to late 80s. The theory has only been gathering evidence since then, and nothing has really come along to disprove it.
You say it's raining, but you're pissing down my back.
We had a similar incident when some poor bloke sent his CV to foobar@barfoo.co,uk - note the comma instead of a full stop. Turns out "uk" expanded to our UK employees and the other part got discarded as undeliverable.
Lessons are I guess: don't send CVs from your work email, and don't have email aliases which are close to elements of email addresses.
Same here - all my spotlights replaced with LEDs so gone from 50W GU10s to 3 or 7W LEDs. Dispersion angle is a little narrower, but that doesn't matter here and no LED failures at all in over a year. Light is actually preferable (for me) in terms of colour temperature as it's whiter rather than the yellow of incandescent.
It's worth changing, even if it's just cos you won't have to go and replace your awkward light fittings so often. If you're unsure, swap one out and see how you get on with it initially.
You should do your homework before sounding off. Mr Krebs knows his stuff - he's a journalist, not some guy sitting round in his pants writing the first thing that comes into his head.
Er, don't think so. I'm a pen-tester in the UK. The usual clause is "access a computer system without authorisation" - which generally means logging in and doing stuff without permission. There might be something about possessing hacking tools "with intent" - but that's just the same as e.g. lockpicks. It's more of an aggravating factor, because it's easy to trace back once you've been caught, but very hard to prove intent without an action having taken place.
Also, VPN is always a good idea for access to administrative services - I don't like any kind of admin login from outside without 2-factor auth being involved.
Fantastic argument there. I'm sure the Lancet will print your letter in full!

Er, Tibet? Oh, wait. That's an internal matter NOW. Don't worry then!
aye; cheaper than the Iraq war though I think, and of slightly more utility.
we did put up a bridge and now charge the English £5.70 to get in. Welsh people travel free, all though we'll deny that if you raise subject.

The Telegraph likes to bash Europeans at every opportunity.

No, they FUCKING WEREN'T.
And to be fair, the Poles broke the 3 rotor version, before anyone else even bothered trying.
Best advert *ever*!
This is sheer idiocy.
but he's not as it turns out. It's a little over the top to say "it's shit like this..." - unless you KNOW he's wrong. http://it.slashdot.org/story/12/04/02/1248252/up-to-15-million-visa-mastercard-credit-card-numbers-stolen
Are you saying justice was done after Haditha, or are you just whining?

Usually I'd say this was paranoia, but given what they did after Haditha, I've really got no trust left in justice meted out by the US army.

That's dated September 1999. Anything current and sane has root login turned off by default.

My first degree was in maths, my Erds number is 4. The "fuck off" stands.

a mathematician and coder, with frankly better things to worry about.
