Most people miss that Douglas Adams was a huge fan of P.G. Wodehouse and would channel his writing style. Wodehouse just had a damn funny way of describing things as an example:
â€oeShe had a voice like a troop of cavalry crossing a tin bridge.†vs "They hung in the air exactly the same way that bricks don't."
If this guy can't channel Wodehouse he has no business writing Hitchhikers.
If anybody I would have rather seen Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen write it but there too many reasons that wouldn't have happened.
I think Palm is counting on them yelling than then Palm will lean on them with their patents.
Remember Palm defined this space long before Apple did and from a few quotes from palm recently they are going to use that as leverage.
Quote from Palm CEO:
"The whole area of patents is elaborate; a lot of issues there, and a very complex area. One of the things we've done over 15 years is build a very extensive patent portfolio in the mobile computing space, one of the highest-rated patent portfolios in this space, which contains more than 1,500 patents. And the reason you do that is to have a defensive position in the marketplace. It's kind of like two little porcupines going around, and you don't want to touch each other because you might get stung. You peacefully coexist and everything's OK and we keep working together."

Wow, for what tasks?
It's camera raw support is terrible.
<Stross> Hrumph, hrumph! I only like "HARD" science fiction! </stross>
How good for him, why does he remind me of this guy: Area Man Constantly Mentioning He Doesn't Own A Television.

Currently Logopolis is venting much of that entropy into another universe using lock transfer computations.

I can't wait for the day I get home from work in my flying electric car to play Duke Nukem Forever against my friends over my new IPV6 connection.
They look more like the original Syd Mead Designs where the driver is more merged into the cycle.
Banned from wal-mart for life? So where is the downside?
The device isn't crippled.
It is running busybox linux and getting in is trivial.
Tethering is not that hard they just don't want to talk about in the hacking from to keep sprint off their backs.
I am sshed into my pre right now and have full access to the os.

Palm may wave it's patent portfolio over Apples head to back off.
Thats about as likely as a Sandisk Sansa trying to install an iPod firmware.
The Pre can go "Sure, give me that update...." as it ignores it and moves on with life.

Not sure if it did violate the DMCA, they are not breaking encryption but only saying "Yeah, I'm an iPod..."
If they can get that then I want a pony.
In California we have 3 seasons: Spring, Rain and Fire.
I bet they sell dozens of them.
As far as I have been concerned, there are NO terminator films past 2 the future was saved and all is well.
There are no alien films past 2.
As Adam would say "I reject your reality and substitute my own"
We had to take the Internet down to have it washed.
It does allow for mashup... They are called RCA cables.
It's why there are so many audible books without drm online.
Just hack the gibson and free up all that extra cyberspace.
You could just buy a real cable tester and make sure your patch cables are to spec.
This isn't rocket science.
Wouldn't it be easier to just find that god-damed butterfly that causes all those hurricanes?
