    First off, Apple doesn't have PC's (per IBM)

    Secondly, It's not the portal to the OS X app store. the OS X app store is a separate program entirely (faster one too).

    If you've ever released any software to the public, you'd know tat the support of download/install management can be a nightmare.

    Whether it's archaic shrink-wrap software, or even web-downloaded, you have to have purchase program, website setup, and all the other trappings. This is assuming that the people will buy from you (since you really did buy that SSL Cert from GoDaddy for $30 per year right?)

    Getting the ease of delivery that an App Store offers (no matter who runs it), is the huge benefit for BOTH developers AND customers. Apple takes some off the top, yes, but 30% is a lot less than you'll spend on your own storefront (brick or web) for sure.

    Seems to me US companies will outsource to companies based in Taiwan or mainland China interchangeably these days, regardless of the fact that one is democratic and the other a supposed Communist dictatorship.

    I just wonder how people can invest in something they know nothing about. Obviously these investors weren't gamers or network admins. How do you dump your money into something so blindly, or better yet, why should I feel sorry for them?

    So the real problem here is that at 60+ M.P.H. those pipes are whisper quiet to anyone in front of me. Who scares me the most? People in front of me :)
    That being said, My Vulcan 800 has quiet pipes. I don't wear yellow, and I stick with drab colors.
    Rather than expect noise, colors, or flashing lights to protect me, I prefer to watch what the F#$k I'm doing while riding.

    Please watch for motorcycles when you drive. cyclists, please watch for cars too. The scenery may be pretty, but the pavement is not!

    Ironically this is the reason most linux users I've talked to won't try Windows 7. "XP was bad enough, why should I try the new one?"

    Granted, it's a $100 thing to try, but it struck me as ironic. Now it's time to be struck with the bad Karma :)

    You do realize that GPS requires multiple sattelites. What were they supposed to throw out the GPS sats when they went into orbit or something?

    Actually that's one notable difference about Voyager (which I've been watching alot of lately). Captain Janeway almost always gives specifics about the orbit (e.g. Keep us in range Harry, or Keep a high orbit, I don't want any of those harmful gasses interfering with my midnight hot sexy baths). Maybe not quite like that, but you know subject to change, not avail. in all areas and all that other jazz.

    So I started reading that article, until I got to the point where they used the UK spelling of color (colour). At that point, I just thought "meh why bother" and left wikipedia.
