Yes, however, I can't tell you how many times I've not been able to find a song on itunes and I've had to look for it, ahem, "elsewhere".
Is it not possible that there are people using both P2P and itunes?
In which case, yes, it's still not exactly what the **AA wants, but it's better than nothing. And contrary to greedy belief, more than nothing can be considered a start.
I don't find this to be as much of a problem as sites that charge like 50% less than offline for something but they expect you to buy overpriced accessories for it or else they take forever to ship it. I heard about this when I went shopping for a digital camera and I was tempted to buy online for the cheaper price but opted not to.
So it seems. This makes me quite happy though. I told this little kid that one day he would packet the wrong person and he would go to jail for it. I traced him to Foonet because he was IRCing off of a bounce there.
I actually got attacked by one of these guys' botnets (Krashed I believe) when a friend IRCing from my connection pissed him off. I traced him to Foonet thinking "great, I know the head admin from being an IRC junkie back in the day" and when I told him what was going on he acted like it was no problem. I thought he should have been a little more concerned about some punk kid attacking people from his net. Figures.
if only the porn industry would come around. I'm pretty sure my Xbox can't further the spread of HIV. At least until someone writes a tactfully named virus for XboxLIVE.
I hate working for companies that are organized so poorly that they take forever to make decisions. The worst part is when you try to jump in with ideas to fix how everyone's organized and how slow everything goes, the right people never hear about it and by the time the ideas get to someone who cares I'm already pissed off and don't care to persuade anyone any more.
That and Employers with trust problems. I've lost count of how many times I've told someone we weren't going to hit a deadline, why, and how we could fix it only to get brushed off and yelled at when the programming team misses the deadline. No one listens to anything other than themselves any more in business.
Hardware will have to be free to justify the fact that the DRM running the hardware will make sure you won't be free to use the machine how you want to use it.
He's basically just outlining a new marketing plan to get the masses to stomach Trusted Computing.
You're welcome. I stumbled upon it yesterday in Google while searching for a place with legal downloads that had Tool songs (embarassing not being able to just jump on a P2P, but I don't want illegal stuff here in my Office computer) and I hadn't heard of it so I thought I'd point it out. It didn't do me any good, no Tool found anywhere, but good to help someone else out.
Everything is free (legal, but selection isvery limited, no uniform media-format) and they allow anyone to upload their own music to be downloaded by others.
Oh-a-aho oh, Oh-a-aho oh FCC killed the radio star. FCC killed the radio star. In my mind and in my car, we can't rewind we've gone too far. Profanity came and broke your heart, put the blame on NPR. You are a radio star. You are a radio star. FCC killed the radio star. FCC killed the radio star. FCC killed the radio star. FCC killed the radio star.

Sorry, that's all I've got going through my head. Back to work.
This only confirms my fears. I'm just hoping that Bush isn't in office if an asteroid ever comes our way. Can you imagine how many oil drillers he knows that look like Bruce Willis? Man, that would be some nightmare.
I had DirecTV with Tivo for a year, told every apartment place I looked at that I MUST be able to have a clear line of sight because I would never pay TimeWarner again. I was assured my balcony was perfect for it, and then I actually set it all up and I could get only about half of the transponders on the satellite (the way the buildings were angled, it looked clear but it wasn't) and thus no DirecTV.
After kicking myself a few times, I got a huge discount from TimeWarner for being a former DirecTV customer. I tried their DVR and it was terrible (couldn't use my Tivo built into my sat. receiver), so I went and bought a standalone Tivo (only to realize that they don't have a 2nd tuner which is highly important).
Bottom Line: Digital Cable costed me more, even with discounts, and Digital Cable had worse reception than DirecTV! I'm not even kidding. My Digital Cable was out more than my DirecTV ever was... at least with a Dish there is an explaination for signal loss (weather, etc), what is Digital Cable's reason for its quite frequent hickups?
Last year I went and bought the most expensive bleeding edge GSM cell phone I could find and now its falling apart. I'm looking to buy a replacement but I don't want a digital camera that just happens to also be a phone!
I want a work-horse that will let me make phone calls, quit dialing in my pocket (Sony Ericcson's KeyLock reminds me of those computers in Radio Shack running Win95 with a password protected screen saver that was bypassed with a simple reboot), have buttons that make sense together (what crack is Nokia smoking these days?), and last after I pay $150-$250 for it (oh yeah, I don't get the lovely rebates now that I'm already tied into a service agreement that I would like to get out of instead of extending another 2 years for AT&T to keep bending me over).
Ok, venting done. Don't even get me started on the rest of the Electronics market.

The real question is: how quickly would this bankrupt social security?
For some reason a Boston HDTV Party comes to mind.
:)
Capitalism is just like Democracy: a majority of idiots put abusers of power into power by buying what they were selling.
It's a system of the people and in order for it to work some people have to lose. Now, who wants to draw straws?

I used to work for a company that was an Amazon store and I know for a fact that Amazon does this.
You don't see it from one computer to the other because Amazon is extremely good at tracking users from their servers.
Whatever. We can't deal with the current social issues, let alone this can of worms.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Wow, I love this utility. It practically writes the script for the disaster movie by itself. If only it did CGI....
What a waste of a Uranus joke.
Wait. Where's India on this list?

1 CD per 5,000 files.
That should show the RIAA how hard it is to find decent music these days.
Quality. Not quantity.
Of course, he's right.

Its kind of weird how I haven't heard anything yet about Amazon's Music service.

Can you say Macromedia? I think they would be hit hardest by EOLAS since that IS their core business model IMHO.
No proof. Just a hunch.
Same thing happened to me in Austin.

I can see it now: $100/bottle for Martian Spring Water.
