It wasn't his home. Vigilante justice as a solution to crime is the non-thinking mans solution. Incarceration is only a step above and it aint' working out too well for you folks. It seems like Texas simply will not accept treatment as a solution and prefers to shoots guns, lock up black people and execute innocent people. I am glad I live in a state that does not spend 100's of millions of dollars on a death penalty system that seems to be more about vengeance than justice.
A lot of companies use tech like this internally now. It was something that I first saw deployed in a small IT Shop in Idaho and I wish I remembered the software they used as this guy pry used it too. I swear the company that made it was just across the border in Utah and also made some sort of nanny web software. It was slick it seemed to have no problem with multiple munged file extensions or the files being compressed and encrypted just plowed through it all. The shop used it searching for everything including all porn, music and media but mostly just found mp3s. Notice he named all the western states cept Utah? I betcha our vigilante is from there.
We will be seeing the advent of decentralized media taking over. I myself use a cable companies DVR to watch some shows like the Venture Brothers and sometimes the Daily show. Honestly though with the lack of interaction for the television I find myself boring of it within an hour or so. I cannot stand news television that they sometimes leave on at the bar I frequent down from where I work. For one I have carefully made sure that my RSS feeds exclude any mention of sports, celebrity gossip or the like as I do not consider them news.
I usually get up in the morning and read news.google.com first to see if the world has blown up and than peruse the RSS feeds from Eureka Alerts before downloading my custom top 50 stories unto my Sony Ebook Reader which I recently upgraded to from my old Palm M500. On the light rail I read the news like people used to read newspapers, completely on most days unless a slew of unwanted stories is downloaded. I find reading things that may not interest me at first can become a pretty enlightening experience and I am now as of a few months ago becoming more familiar with new economic movements such as crowdsourcing and Wikinomics.
No it doesn't. The problems underlying most burglaries is poverty and drug addiction. Do you really think someone who is smoking 100 dollars worth of crack a day because he grew up in a poor neighborhood with stress factors such as murder, bad parenting and substandard schools is going to stop and read the newspaper to see if the local populace are batshit insane and shooting thieves? People that steal do so because they lack the life skills to make it in the real world and instead soak their lives in delusion and fantasy brought on typically by stimulants where one can feel as if they are part of the godhead for 15 minutes at a time.
To start addressing this issue as I see it is to make the first 2 years of college or a trade school free and mandatory.
Why did he point a gun at them in the first place? The dispatcher told him not to and to wait for the police. In Oregon he would of got manslaughter and he would of deserved it. If I was the homeowner he "protected" I would sue him civilly. Thinking you are a good man because you resort to violence when confronted with property theft is anachronistic in most of the civilized world. Texas is a joke.
I never much cared for Texas and its insane laws anyways. All this will do is cause any repair to be more expensive and companies in that state to be less competitive nationally. We can always use more folks in the computer industry up in Silicon Forest. People will also come to naively expect more privacy I bet as well. Child porn arrests will go up as a result and Texas will hopefully find some way of executing them, they spend 100's of millions a year on their death penalty system and it is pry one of the top 20 industries in the state; with this in force maybe it will move into the top 10 because any company reliant upon technology is going to laugh themselves right out of the state.
Fuck no, the democrats would eat him alive as soon as they start playing that UN misleading the whole world as a prelude to a war which killed 100's of thousands. Did you already forget it? I would not trust anyone that ever entered the Bush white house willingly. The executive branch does not need one who has a proud and faithful heart it needs one with patient and skeptical brains.
So I have over 10 terabytes of storage on my local network with 4 terabytes that are always accessible that pry cost me around 2000 dollars and took only 3 years to fully build out. There is not a drive smaller than 250 gigs except one laptop drive that is a fast 120 gig that I have not been able to replace. If I had enough space 5 years ago I would of saved all the attachments but sadly I deleted all of them over 100k from 97-2003. Only had about 500 gigs at the time. Thus erasing without thinking dozens of nude pictures of a particular red headed ex-gf that were not anywhere else:/. I could so use them to blackmail her now. I am currently growing by about 100-200 gigs a month so I will accumulate over 1 terabyte a year from now on with CAD work, digital art and popular media leading the way. Almost 2 terabytes of music alone.
I live 50 miles from Walmart and with gas prices as high as they are I can only go about once a month. If I did not have music for the drive I wouldn't feel safe on a road that is miles upon miles of fog and redwoods.
Seriously if you are not getting 99% uptime with cable or DSL go wireless. If you have that much construction playing dig up the fiber in your area look for a wireless system.
I prefer the 3 world theory of Popper. Materialism has been pretty much thoroughly discredited outside of some stubborn old timers who still are preaching it from their decade long tenures in Academia.
This is a study using the mechanical action of pressing buttons. If this was based on people and their wonderful wacky analytic thought processes I would be more impressed, yawn.
Make your own for a grand. Was in last month's Make Magazine from O'Rielly. All you have to do is write the software and add another camera to make it a trinocular. Same setup from the magazine would get you more than half way there.
They kicked me out of high school. I was going for 5 IB/AP classes and taking 2 community college courses when they caught me smoking opium with 2 goth chicks on a playground in front of the school. They dropped me like a bad habit so to speak. I could not stand the mediocrity of most of the IB/AP classrooms. It seemed if any parent whined enough they could get their children into the class. I had 1st year chemistry with the football team and cheerleading squad all the other geeks took the class later in the day and if by god they didn't cheat every which way. I handed in a report late one day and looked at some of the other reports on the desk, they all had the same data and it was wrong. The teacher caught on but no one would turn on each other so they would not punish anyone and risk a parent coming down. The 1450 on my SAT helped me get into college but I went to work for 6 years and I am only now completing my degree 10 years later.
Well if you are brilliant or hard working enough you can always work for your self. That is what I am seeing more and more of in engineering with contractual employees working from home on small group projects and the like becoming entrepreneurs and trying to patent ideas on the side. I mean it is nice to have something to put bread on the table but honestly if you are over 25 and have been working in a field for 4 years or so you should really try to start developing some of your ideas/inventions they could end up paying the bills for a long time. If you are older, time is ticking.

It is not cheap it is 3 years of your life. 3 years of your life in the IT industry is at least 80k dollars for even the lowliest tech.
Why did he point a gun at them in the first place? The dispatcher told him not to and to wait for the police. In Oregon he would of got manslaughter and he would of deserved it. Lol, do you know how many times up here in Portland that someone throws away their pot plants and the garbage company calls the cops?

I locked the #objectivist and #objectivism channels on undernet off and on for years, good times.
Or the absolute worse lolicon.

You have an overly romantic view of the early America. Partisan politics in all but name took place from John Adams onwards.

So, I have over 30 gigs of email going back to 1997. What is another few bits and bytes?
I can setup my old Eudora client to copy messages to multiple folders.

This only punishes people who are not technically savvy enough to encrypt their documents or store them in a USB key drive.

Oil can be used to make fertilizer, plastics and the like. Who said anything about burning it?
Keep killing them.
