sadly some people try and bargain for more than their worth and get cut off from those who pay the bills. Is this the fault of the employee for asking for more than their worth? or the employer for being greedy???
I think the issue is when you feel that you deserve to work a couple hours a day (or week) and get paid more than other people who work for 10s of hours a week (or day) and be paid the same amount. I am sure I will be down moded for this one but sadly the truth hurts. If I own a business, I am going to maximize my profits, and if that means opening a plant in china, or XX instead of YY, well thats not my fault, thats the market. If you dont like the rules, or the way things are running in your country, change the rules to make it more competitive, if that dont work change the rules to keep workers, or products from ZZ from entering your country.
I doubt these guys think they deserve to be paid more than others who work harder. They probably think EVERYONE should be paid more and are just not able to help the other guys. These guys unionizing and demanding more money for less work is their end of the deal. On the other end is you demanding more work for less money. In theory you'll meet in the middle or thereabouts. It's a pendulum that has strong forces pulling it either way, or at least that's how I see it.
I respect a politician who speaks the truth. I don't understand why this is news.
You believe you just read news about a politician speaking the truth and you're wondering why it's news? I have to ask, "What planet you are from?" I'm pretty sure I've never heard of such a thing except when truth is preceded by the word half.
I'm looking for a good one now. 1920x1080p30, wide angle, supports SD/SDHX/SDXC, internal battery plus car power operation choice. Stores in file and video format Linux based software (e.g. ffmpeg, etc) can read. One with wifi to recorder would be a plus.
GoPro HD Hero 2 (and 3) will do that; you can get a wifi adapter for it. VLC (and probably other software) reads it just fine.
Without producing an exhaustive list, marijuana comes to mind first. It's legal in like 10+ states from what I understand and based on all the hubub about it over the last few years my opinion is that it's headed for national legalization sooner or later. In many places using chemicals or herbs you find at the local gas station aren't illegal (no, I'm not talking about inhaling gas fumes). Besides, I never used the word legal. Also, if you go to the doctor instead of the liquor store you can get high off a plethora of prescription medication. Billions do that every day.
I think you're wrong and Bettridge's law still applies. The only bar for entry - even to public universities has been money. If you have the money, you can get in while not meeting most of the admission requirements through special programs or generous donations. Special programs = money since you pay for "non credit" classes. That's always been the case, the only thing that's really changed to enable better access is greater access to financing.
If they continued to drink and get sick and drink some more, it sounds like that would be the case. Some people may very well do just that. I'm guessing most people would stop after getting sick a few (or more) times. I guess it would come down to whether the patient thought that risk was worth the reward or not.
I'd be interested to see the first DUI case where a judge says "six months in the workhouse OR the vaccine."
Well, first of all, get yourself a better lawyer...especially for first offense, you should likely get out of it with maybe probation.
But if it came down to that...I'd take the 6 months.
Don't get me wrong, I like a drink every now and then. However, given that choice I wouldn't even hesitate to take the shot. Seriously you'd take 6 months over not drinking? There's other tasty non alcoholic drinks out there, and a million other ways to get a buzz if you feel the need.
I'll just add that they could be simply uneducated on the subject, and also what tastes good is highly subjective. I mentioned I like Guinness but several of my friends can't stand it. Many people love wine, and I really tried to pick it up a few months ago and just couldn't find a bottle that I actually enjoyed (admittedly I didn't buy any that were over $50/bottle).
The EXACT SAME effect can be produced by feeding people shaggy mane mushrooms, (which are perfectly edible) due to the presence of a substance called Coprine.
Coprine acts similarly to a well known medicinal substance called Disulfriram" that has been used to treat alcoholism via this mechanism for nearly 100 years!
So, what you are telling me is that this doctor has essentially re-invented the wheel, and that this is news?
If you read the article you linked (I just did - having not heard of it before) the most important part of this new product is that it's a (permanent?) vaccine rather than a pill. In studies cited by that Wikipedia article, Disulfriram was not effective primarily due to poor compliance by the patient- they stopped taking the pills so they could have a drink (basically). With a vaccine, the patient does not have the ability to stop and have a drink. I think that's a significant and worthwhile improvement.
It reminds me of lap-band, or other weight loss surgery. Those surgeries punish the patient for poor diet compliance by causing nausea and vomiting. They do have a feature that this does not in that they also reward patient compliance (in the form of the patient feeling fuller longer with less food).
Does anyone really drink alcohol for the taste? Take the effect away and most drinks are a lot like drinking piss with a mediciney aftertaste.
Some alcoholic drinks are delicious. I happen to really really enjoy the taste of Guinness. Lots of fruity mixed drinks are fantastic. That said, I haven't had either in a while. In related news; it's Friday!
Real merchants don't "deserve" your personal details any more or less than appstore merchants. There may be a need to take your address for shipment, and in that case a phone number, email adress, or even additional shipment instructions may be useful. But they ought not be required without good reason.
Note that credit cards muddle the picture by virtue of being a credit facility: You haven't actually paid yet so you are in debt and those obligations add identification requirements. Though strictly speaking all the merchant is supposed to do is pass it on to the credit facility for turning into money, and passing it in the clear is rather outdated, and well-known to be dangerous. Without credit as in payment by cash there and then, much of the need to identify you personally goes away.
That this information is useful for profiling and all sorts of marketeering and so it's nice to gather, well, plenty furrin places you're not even allowed to do that. I'd say the practice to pass on information that really isn't needed is a dangerous habit that needs reconsideration.
N'mind that it may possibly be useful to send emails in case of updates or whatnot. Passing that information automatically without need is a flaw, yes. Even if done by design.
Software merchants don't sell a product like a "real" merchant, they act as a middle man and sell a license to the customer on behalf of the software owner.
Hey, go build your app store and sell your apps...until you do no...your not a merchant...your a supplier. Google App store is the merchant.
You seem to not understand your role here. You are not the making the sale. Google is. You simply getting your book/album/software distributed by a merchant./really is that simple
Customers that license apps from a "middle man" such as Google, Tech Data, SHI, Apple, or other value added resellers are still licensing the app from the owner. The owner has every right to know who licensed their software. Just because they paid a middle man to interface with the owner doesn't eliminate the owner from the process.
I think you're forgetting (perhaps intentionally) that as things stand today you don't buy software, you pay for a license to use software that someone else owns. Google in this example sells a license, and provides distribution and marketing services to the owner in exchange for a cut of the license fee.
"... but this was largely a response to demographic reality rather than political pressure."
Since when did politicians respond to reality? Reality doesn't vote. You get elected by responding to what people believe. I guess this must be once of those rare cases of congruence between the two...
Hmm.. something happened to my post.. anyway, that example is not mine - just one I found on the internet (although I have done it before). It's easier than you'd think it would be.
You mention in TFS that you can handle replacing socketed chips. Using a heat gun to re-flow and remove/replace SMT chips isn't much of a stretch from that. If you could get your hands on a replacement chip, that is. I used a wagner heat gun from home depot ( http://openschemes.com/2009/10/16/heat-gun-homebrew-smt-rework-tutorial/

There's no reason to start slinging slurs. The sexual orientation of the Helsinki-Tallinn is irrelevant.
