RIT is a decent product, but for plastics, there is some other kind of dye that was around 10 years ago used for RC car wheels. Sounds like that's what you would want to use for plastics.

I'm seeing a lot of posts just saying "Big deal, it's a Photoshop filter". But that's not the point. The point of this is that given the source and the final image, the algorithm learned to reproduce the filter. In otherwords, it dynamically generated the "Photoshop filter" based on the input and output of the sample set. That's pretty cool!

It's not just using the filter; it is creating the filter.

No, get it straight. What they did was uphold the police action of taking a particular woman into custody, and threw her suit out. You have no idea what the woman did; she may have been mouthing off to the police officer, or resisting in other ways. Sure, the INITIAL incident was not having a seat belt fastenend, but that's not what eventually caused her to be taken to jail.

The supreme court does not legislate, so it's not like they just invented a law that says police can take you into custody for anything. All the supreme court does is uphold or strike down the enforcement of laws.

  14. The thing that really irks me... on Anti Spam Bills Continue · · Score: 5

What I really hate about spam is the fact that they provide this statement at the end going on and on about how this mail conforms to bill such and such, and if you want removed, just send an e-mail to remove@blaablaa.com.

How do you fight that besides sorting through headers and writing to abuse@blaa.com or whatever? Even if they pass some $500 fine per piece of spam, how can you enforce it?

I love my N64. Dreamcast and PS2 don't hold a candle to it, because of the games. I really cannot find a decent PlayStation game. Of all the systems I own (Atari 2600, Genesis, Nintendo 8-bit, SNES, N64, Atari Jaguar, Dreamcast, PlayStation, Sega Game Gear), the Nintendo 64 is the best by far.

The reason, in my opinion, is that they really think they have their philosophy right. They are striving for quality over quanity, whereas Sony is the other way around.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Zelda: Majora's Mask are great games. I would much rather have my N64 with two or three great games than a PlayStation 2 with lots of mediocre games and ports. Who needs all these new sports games? Seriously... all they do is update the stats.

  24. Re:Does it really prove it? on Human Genome Confirms Evolution · · Score: 2

I agree. It's a standard practice of "scienticians" to jump the gun and apply findings way beyond what logical conclusions can be drawn. For example, here's one argument:

    1) Fundamentalist Christians believe the universe was created in 7 days.
    2) Science proves it is more like 10 billion years.
    3) Therefore, God doesn't exist.

They take jumps such as those that are just as laughable as they call us Christians. Now, I'm not a "fundamentalist", and believe science is the pursuit of examining the miracle of God's creation. If we share 90% of the DNA of all other living beings, that proves that we share 90% of the DNA of other living beings, NOTHING else!
Why make such an illogical jump to "prove Darwin" or whatever that means?

There are many different views Christians have on Creation. Some, in fact, believe in what is called "evolutionary creation". These "findings" certainly don't disprove Creation, because creation is about the "why", not the "how".

  25. The U.S. Constitution is beautiful on Is The U.S. No Longer The Choice For Freedom? · · Score: 1
... The US Constitution really is amazing. It's quite an impressive synthesis of the ideas of Locke and other contemporaries in the realm of political science in the late 1700's. Very cutting edge political science. It's a perfect Republic system; and if you actually read the Constitution and Hamilton's Federalist Papers (written along with Jay and Madison to get New York to ratify the document), you'd see they really went through A LOT of work to get it that way.

    So, what went wrong?

    1) The Constitution, as much as people these days hate to admit it, was built upon the ASSUMPTION that people would remain religious and moral. Adams, Washington, Jefferson (even a Diest) admitted that the system would fail if there was no moral base of Christian ethics.

    2) The Constitution outlined a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. People somehow got the impression that the Constitution says every citizen should have their individual voice heard.

So, the U.S. is a great country, but would be SO MUCH BETTER if people would just actually read the Constitution!!!! It pains me to hear people so blatantly misquote and misinterpret, as well as the politicians that just don't care about freedoms as long as they please the majority and get re-elected. If we actually treated this country as a republic of united states, with a federal system for union-specific issues such as defense, foreign policy, and commerce, we'd be much better off.
