Maybe you didn't realize you were dealing with a butthole-nazi. And I don't need to solve all of Slashdots problems over night. If I can just reach out with my words and touch a butthole, just one, it will all be worth it.
one of the best arguments in recent memory for proper password discipline
Why, because somebody might impersonate you on IGN? That's pretty weak. Maybe if this was related to your banking information it'd be a problem but somehow I don't think Chase would want you to link your PSN account to your savings account.
I'm not saying they shouldn't correct it, but explaining it to an editor is the kind of thing a butthole would do. Do you honestly think they didn't already know the difference? You said it yourself, they get paid for this. They know the most basic grammar. It's irritating watching all these posts about one typo, acting as if they're telling something the editor didn't know. But if your little lesson in 3rd grade grammar makes you feel like you're contributing go ahead. Be honest, if you were typing and somebody was reading over your shoulder and told you "Oh, by the way, knew with a 'k' is the past tense of know with a 'k' (as opposed to N-O, the opposite of yes) but you typed 'new' as in not old" wouldn't you think that guy was a total ass? I certainly would. The difference between "its" and "it's" is more reasonable to explain since people are legitimately confused by it.
Really? Thank you so fucking much. Nobody knew that at all. It certainly couldn't have just been a slip, it had to come from ignorance. I'm so excited that I can come to this free internet to learn about grammar from such excellent minds as yours.
No, you're being deliberately stubborn. "I need to return to the Home tab" is not a valid complaint. You click layout, you do your thing, and you leave it there. When you need something from Home you click on home and do what you need to do and leave it there. 2 clicks in both actions. If you reset to Home then don't use an action on home then why did you do that? Because you're dumb? Or is this just the flailings of somebody trying to get used to a change, but too arrogant to admit he has a problem and not the interface?
Lengthy response here, but I want to say up front that I understand its easy to call me a racist after reading this. I think its a damned shame that people buy the argument, but I know I have nothing against other races. Try to not box me in as a racist as you read these responses.
Deciding when a woman can have birth control, thats not sexist, men know better than women.
That's not the argument. The argument is when does life begin. You can frame it that way if you would like, but calling abortion birth control is a little bit heinous. If he is talking about Plan B that's even still not sexist, its just his opinion on when a person becomes a person. Projecting that belief as sexism is complete bullshit as the line of when a person becomes a person is obviously a gradient. Where do you place it? When the toes leave the vagina walls? Oh, shit, maybe that problem isn't so cut and dry and calling anybody that disagrees with you sexist is complete bullshit.
Calling Martin Luther King as a "pro-communist philanderer" and to Martin Luther King Day as "hate Whitey day."
No, that isn't racist. Martin Luther King is not exempt from any criticism just because he did some good things. If its true its true, if its not he's wrong and possibly said it only because he is racist, but that statement is not racist by itself. You have yet to establish that Ron Paul thinks whites are superior or black are inferior to any other race. Replace Martin Luther King with Bill Clinton and you tell me if it's still racist. As for the second part, "hate Whitey day", perhaps it does feel that way to whites sometimes, that doesn't mean he is a racist, that just means he thinks on Martin Luther King day white people get a lot of criticism. Which I would guess is true and in school we teach a lot of stuff that makes white kids feel guilty leading up to MLK day. You don't have to agree with that, but expressing that sentiment does not make him a racist and in no way even insults minorities.
Saying the Los Angeles riots of 1992 only stopped when it came time for "blacks to pick up their welfare checks".
Percentage of blacks on welfare in LA in 1992, do you know it? Do you think maybe it did have something to do with it? Does me thinking that it might have make me racist or make me analytical? If you think racist then I think race is too important to you.
Is homophobia sexism now? If so, you got me there. Ron Paul is probably against homosexuality, but I know he at least supports their right to be gay even if he would rather them do it in private or not at all. To be honest, I think we could all do with keeping our sex lives a little more private. I would of course never propose a law to that effect, and I doubt Ron Paul would either.
There's the whole fact that it is, you know, actually better. Xbox Live is just about fucking perfect. You can bitch all you want about paying less than a WoW subscription to play all of your console games online, but that doesn't make the PSN even close to XBox Live. PSN always makes me feel like I'm playing multiplayer in 1998. I mean that literally not as a slam. I enjoy games from 1998 still. This may have more to do with the fact that Halo has amazing multiplayer if you are in to the game, and there is a lot of consistency between titles with good matchmaking. As far as I can tell each game has to roll their own for PSN.
But if you DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE DOING THIS then why would you turn it on? Are you saying it should be a matter of course that we encrypt everything? Maybe we should check all of our food for poison before we eat it too, and wear gas masks at work just in case.
Your definition of racist and women hater are so skewed it makes me wonder if you really know what it means to be racist or sexist. Actually it doesn't make me wonder, it lets me know.
Are you being serious right now? A cache is there so you don't have to go through a relatively expensive process to get some data. It is not there for you to save data that would otherwise not exist and patent it for use in generating a timeline of where you've been on a map. Sure, you can do that with a cache, but you wouldn't ordinarily specify that in the patent. Tracking, maybe not. Cache, certainly not. Its the difference between cached pages and your browser history.
Republican dominated USA? What the fuck is wrong with you?! Did you forget about the democrat congress and the democrat president in the last 10 years? My Lord how you blamed republicans for this is beyond my imagination as both parties are at fault and both parties had opportunities to change the course.
It always makes me feel dirty when I say something like "Hey, you can't just take these IDs from the client as good and not check that they have authority for those items, let me show you why with the querystring and Fiddler." and my boss calls me a hacker. I'm not a hacker, your software design is just shitty.
So if they are attention seeking then they release shit that doesn't need to be held up as the truth because there is nothing wrong with it. Like what the personal opinion of a diplomat is for example. Or what if it gets to the point where its just technical details? That's where this conversation was headed. The attention whore is to be feared. Whistleblowing isn't just throwing classified docs out in to the wild because they were classified. You whistleblow because there is a danger in keeping the information classified.
Just what the hell was wrong with Iraq except for the execution? Are we in the business of letting dictators who invade other countries, don't abide by the rules we established for them after fighting them back, skirt around embargos, and pass off all of the political sanctions on to his people go unpunished? If you don't understand why we were in Iraq then you are completely brain dead. Do you remember all that stuff with the UN inspectors? Do you remember how Sadam had every chance to avoid his fate but decided he'd rather stick it to the world? Do you remember how WMD was suddenly redefined as nuclear weapon when we found chemical WMDs? Jesus Christ you need to get your head out of your ass. Iraq was completely reasonable at the time, but since it didn't work out all sunshine and rainbows (you know, like war is supposed to) you want to bitch and moan like it was our fault he shit all over his bed before going to sleep in it.
But what about that bug related to an image download after a button click 6 years ago preventing the user from changing their password? How will you find that bug without years of button click data?!
Jesus christ, finally I know what industry to direct my hate at for the series of douches driving 60 in the left lane, going the exact same speed as the guy they're right next to in the center lane. Now that I know where they work I can pay to have them forcibly entered. In the butt.
For being right 0.01% of the time and being damn inconvenient 100% of the time and condescending 150% of the time. What you're doing is more along the lines of blaming a person who didn't use bug spray on a summer day for getting Lyme Disease.
GIFs would be downright tasteful these days. The reason GIFs seemed so terrible in the day is because of general crappy design. Flash is animated, these GIFs are clearly more tasteful than most flash, and GIFs can only animate. They can't spew sound or rape your computer. Our ability to design has grown up a lot since geocities and has nothing to do with the specific implementation of animation.
Maybe you didn't realize you were dealing with a butthole-nazi. And I don't need to solve all of Slashdots problems over night. If I can just reach out with my words and touch a butthole, just one, it will all be worth it.

Like my wife. That's a lie, she never lets me in :-(.

I suggest 76% then you split. Otherwise makes sense.
A netbook is just fine for on-the-go word processing.
They're a fad, unimportant.
A tablet with a bluetooth keyboard would be fine too.
Would you seriously want to navigate the old style menu on a tablet? Perhaps this is a move for tablets.
No, you're being deliberately stubborn. "I need to return to the Home tab" is not a valid complaint. You click layout, you do your thing, and you leave it there. What's pathetic is HR hiring.

Microsoft hated less than Apple? I hardly think so. Not here. Not anywhere.
