Since beginning of time, if I bought( or got a hold of) a seed, planted and nursed it it would produce more seeds which can in their turn be planted and nursed. This is the definition of a seed.
If Monsanto has issues with this, then they need to genetically modify the seed (or plant that it gives birth to) so that it will only produce one generation.
If Monsanto wants to challenge the whole reason we became agricultural societies instead of hunter gatherers then I guess that is just in their business DNA.
But if you the people allow them to get away with it, then you the people are morons.
Or even use the hydrogen in a Carbon-monoxide/dioxide capture scheme and produce methanol that could be used in today's engines with minor conversions. The cars would of course re release that carbon dioxide when driving, so it wouldn't really be sequestering.
See syn-gas to methanol process from the 1920's by Alwin Mittasch and Mathias Pier. Or alternatively the newer processes involving a copper catalyst.
I am glad I don't have mod points, because I wouldn't know what to do with them. On one hand, you found an excellent xkcd, that I had not seen before. But on the other hand it is completely irrelevant unless the navy is trying to push the other boat out of the water.
This discussion has brought back memories from a book I read in my youth. I highly recommend that you read it if you haven't.

The main frame computer that controls everything in this world assigns a number of credits to each citizen who can use them to "pay" for items in stores.
Using very strict judgement, uncharacteristic to Slashdot, the parent may be off topic, but Score:0, Troll? I guess mods woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.
Since then the elected government has changed this into copyright for infinity -1 for the publishers
As we all know the world is about to end this year (2012) so does that mean that we are now allowed to copy to our hearts content this last year of times?
OK, I don't agree.
But after noticing your very low number UID. I will bow out gracefully and let age go before beauty.
Also I don't have time to argue, The almighty has told me I have to go start building my space ark now.
There is 624/625 chance of it being reduced close to 0. There is a 1/625 chance of it being increased close to 1. Therefore "more observations will probably reduce the odds of impact to close to 0" is a perfectly correct statement.
That would mean;
That more observations on any low probability phenomena will reduce the probability towards 0 then.
There is something wrong with either the OPs or my understanding of probability theory.
Summary states:
It's behind the Sun until September 2013, and more observations taken then will probably reduce the odds of impact to something close to 0
I don't understand how the probability of a hit can be 1 in 625 now, if it is probable that the odds will be reduced to close to 0 in 18 months or so.
The only way I can reconcile this is if we say that 1/625 is close to zero, but then why the article?
Here on Slashdot you risk a revoked geek card if you don't capitalize at least the first character of Lisp. Plus, I always imagined Milla to more of a Simula or Smalltalk kind of gal.

I check it every few days, but really, it's not all that interesting compared to the real world.
Do you have invitations? How do I get one?
If this means I have to keep my room temperature at 98kelvin, I am dead set against it.
Yes it sometimes hurts when assets take a dump.
Oh, you said sit didn't you?
Well, carry on then.
didn't you? Well carry on then.
Freezing someone's assets to "Prevent their flight"
Never mind the 5:th amendment, I thought freezing peoples asses to prevent their flight was against the Geneva convention or something or another.

I dare you to Google "potato law".

I don't take well to dares
You can't be a MILF if you're not a M.
Are you saying she isn't a Mutant?
Is this sarcastic or is this somehow really supposed to be reassuring?
I was aiming for +5, Funny - with a faint smell of insight-fulness while masquerading as informative
I think, I did rather well?
And having a vulnerability in a GUI (RDP) protocol is somehow worse than having vulnerabilities in SSH how exactly?
Any fool can use the GUI, but with SSH at least you can be sure that you are being hacked and exploited by a fellow geek.
Do they use magnets to get the energy back out of flywheels these days somehow or mechanical linkages?
I think that typically, vinyl coating the flywheel used together with a set of Siamese cats will allow for the most efficient conversion ratio.
No no no!! That is against the laws of physics my friend. Nothing can be faster than C not even C++ and that's the truth.

If I had one I would hack it to make it look like a running Alien.
