  1. Re:Competition? on Apple Rejects iPhone App As Competitive To iTunes · · Score: 1

OK. Apple has been doing OK for a long time that is why they don't have a bigger market.

OK best describes Apple. They have some amazing products mixed in with stupid policies which make them an OK company.

Like paying for a gift card to update software on your iTouch and not being able to update unless you have a credit card.

I don't know why MS wasted so much money on stupid adds with Jerry they could knock out Apple with the same parody in seconds. I guess they need the competition in order not to become a monopoly.

Apple just does not get it, from Aplle ][ to the iPhone. Once more they are going to blow a great opportunity to be a leader because of their greed.

It starting to look as if all I like about Apple is what they took from FLOSS. Anything else seems to have these little annoying proprietary locks.

Since the source for Vista is not available I wonder what the motivation was for Microsoft to release the code "unsafe/early" was? Like past problems and the typical attitude of release early and release often, maybe it should be the same attitude for "malware writers" release often and early.

This is a security Vista issue because it concerns how .NET was implemented on Vista. The method "may" be used on "possibly" other systems but as of yet it does not affect XP or OS X, as per the article. RTFM please.

The fact of the matter is that no OS is completely safe but MS and Apple like people believe so since it's their marketing that dictates the direction of the OS. ... and yet there is not much more in the article to be ale to say anything for sure.

The bias that most have is due to the marketing. If I am told I can do such and such with such, I better be able to. If I am told it's about security don't hide behind the marketing be upfront about the issues. Unfortunately form MS and Apple the only true fact is that they will try to milk as much as we are willing to give them.

Who's to say that the compromised system wasn't used to hack back into China. Who's to say it's not another Canadian political party using a hacked system in china to hide their tracks. This reminds me of a site developer who didn't know that the owner used Mac at home. Lost a large contract because it didn't work. The developer looked like an idiot. The problem was also replicated on cell phones. MS can't maintain the standard incompatibility that it is creating. IE has no standards and keeping track of IE is beyond any one developers wishes.

For once MS is doing the right thing and it's not because it want's to, it's because it has to not to loses any more market share.

If you're running a business and need to exchange files OOo is more than adequate. In 30 years of running businesses most people who receive documents only care that they can open the file.

Different version of MSOffice render the documents inconsistently. Most users have not seen the document in it's original form to actually say that there is any difference.

Most files are simple letters and in my experience intricate and complicated spreadsheets are not forwarded without being locked down if they are forwarded at all.

People just want it to work. I have yet to experience any problems with OOo and forwarded word documents.

Ctrl + v , Ctrl + c , Ctrl + x .... it's just not a natural movement. Highlight and middle mouse click. Command + v a little better. I never understood why both Gnome and KDE followed Windows.

So much talk about a GUI and no mention on how I can control my environment. Why can something load and not give me an option to KILL it. Nothing is more frustrating than a system that constantly slows down with stupid helper apps that want to constantly check home to see if there is the a new latest or greatest.

Once you get that out of the way there is nothing that office offers that can't be achieved by other programs. If Office is your tool fine by you but Office in no way can meet my expectations just by the simple fact that it's limited to one platform (please don't say it's available for the Mac,Word may be somewhat compatible, Excel also but Office just stops there). I don't want to get into this argument because MS fan boys just don't get it. There is more than one way to skin a cat. I would hate to drive the same car everyone else is driving. I would prefer to use the tool that best suits the task. When dealing with mixed environments, standards work best. And by mixed I'm including different versions of windows.
