The issue is that debts have due dates, note I am not saying this is the case for Loki, if they have a due date to meet, which means thay have to pay back the full amount by said date. Then Capter 11 is the only option for them to refinance.
There are too many hidden issues here to guess why. If it is a csae where they owe some money to a few creditors, and most of these creditors are supportive of the restructuring then Loki will survive. If not then it will go into receivership and most likely into liquidation.
But as I have said before we do not know the details or issues behinde the restructuring.
Seriously though user friendliness is one of those hilarious multi-headed hydras: When you don't have it
you can disparage it as being for idiots and dullards, but once you have it it's a wonderful feature.
User friendly is a relative statement in my opinion. For some things I find linux and FreeBSD more user friendly than Windows. What we seem to mean by user friendly is idiot freindly, or no knowledge required friendly. As a user I like the fact that I do not have to reboot the system to regain speed, stop an app which is not cooperating and such.
Don't get me wrong... if you setup a system for someone and it keeps running as setup for years is that not user friendly??? Everyone keeps saying that windows is better because anyone can administer it, but I have yet to see everyone administer it. When they refer to anyone, they meen someone with a bit of computer knowledge, but in that case they can as easily administer any other OS.
This comment is not to insite a flame war of which OS is friendlier, this is to make a simple point. I have clients which use BSD's as ther server OS and have not had to visit them to admin the system,in some cases, for over 5 years. Now is this not user friendly?
The question he raised was that an office with W$ will not hire an admin but appoint one. The typical admin in a small business is one who knows most about computers and not one who has studied computers. This is due to the marketing that is comming out of M$ sales shops. It's easy. Fact is that securing a system is an ongoing thing and not always easy. Time and money needs to be invested constantly. How much depends on the admin.
No matter if it is a DOS attack or a worm or any other kind of attack.
In regards to DOS attacks it's more likely that they consume your bandwidth rather that bringing your systems down. I would like to see a great admin stop that and not be a victim.
You can use a command line tool to do it, or you can use a program called MetaEdit. It's Q240225 in MS's knowledge base thingy. I had the pleasure of admining an NT box for a while...
The pleasure in the GUI is CLI??? This is very funny. VERRY FUNNY.
I'd say that it's more that the Telco monopolies are hindering the small ISP's by bundling their services. The Telco's had time to build their monopoly networks and therfore have better margins by conbining support, billing, customer care, and such.
I bought bandwidth from my ISP and I expect them to deliver that bandwidth.
No you did not buy bandwidth, you bought shared access. If you would have bought bandwidth you would be on a T1 to acheive the same results as a DSL connection, or an OC3 or such for your Cable modem.
If my machine has a security problem and starts attacking other sites on the Internet, that should be my problem, not my broadband provider's problem.
How do you figure??? If your system is DOS'ing someone on the net it may be using the total bandwidth in your area. How will some one contact you to advise you. Your ISP will be contacted, by other clients and such. Like it or not the ISP is involved.
1 use and aeron at home. when i first got it, i spend a considerable amount of time getting it adjusted to suit me perfectly. that means setting the height so your feet rest on the ground, setting up the lumbar support properly, getting the correct tilt both forward and backward, getting the armrest height set properly, etc. it can be a chore, but if you take the time to do it, it truly is one of the most comfortable chairs.
Setting up Linux is less trouble than this. I can have a box up and running in an hour if not less fully configured before i'd get this cjair set just right for me!...but it does look cool.
Nintendo's market is kids (pre teens) Sony and M$ are after the older crowd with blood and guts. Most families with young children prefer Nintendo to a computer, its easier for the kids to manage and the can't mess it up by deleting any important files.
Part of the reason Windows is so widespread is because Windows is stable (in an API sense, and in a reliability sense as far as W2K is concerned), and easy to write for.
It's so stable that the same errors / bug / problems keep on comming back again and again.
It's a question of puttung out a product prior to it being ready just to get market share and fixing the problems after the fact.
if we can play it on a computer why can't we write a driver that captures the data going into the sound card, (like a screenshot or in this case a "SOUND SHOT")?
How many copies of a music CD are sold for it to go gold....
Now how manny copies of MS Office have been sold? They don't rewrite it every time...in most cases it hardly even changes.
How come Micro$oft has all those billion $$$ aside for a rainy day.
and no I dont't think its more expensive to make software (Custom applications are another thing). Unlike music you can continue to resell the code, ie: MS Office.
Why should software be less expensive for some and not for others? Should people on government assistance have special offers for everything they buy? Why not give them cars for free? Why not buy them a house? Why not give them movies on DVD?
I can't understand why certain products have to be discounted for the poor and others not.
What I do beleive is that software is over priced. An MS Office CD should go for the same price of a music CD. The cost of production is the same in regards to the number of copies made. People complain day in day out on/. that the cost of music CD's are over priced and that they should sell for less. Software is overpriced!!!! It should be sold at the same cost as a music CD as it is to OEM's
Oh my yes! Of course, they won't necessarily know who YOU are, since product REGISTRATION is separate from product ACTIVATION -- and not required to use WinXP.
You forgot that that is what passport is all about!!!
I am considering creating a new office suite. It will include a word prossesor, spreadsheet, presentations software. Where can I get the Micro$oft Office code so I may complete my project.
Bill seems to imply that we may use his source, but I can't find it posted on the Micro$oft site!!!!

Who whould have thought that computer geeks would be Very Big Guys. I wonder what their football team looks like????

Maybe they should get one large SUN system this way it would only take one patch. but then again it doesn't run W 2000.

You mean OEM tech support. I haven't seen an OEM version that Microsoft was willing to support.
and above all do NOT moderate!!!!

Unless you already have DSL/Cable.
how this chip will fair in the washing machine???
Poor MS they can't take the code from GPL 'cause they'll have to give something back. They can't steal it nor can they buy it.BOO hoo hoo!!!
Bill seems to imply that we may use his source, but I can't find it posted on the Micro$oft site!!!!
OK...But then we should have some type of category that states no OS shiped with system.
