I wasn't entirely joking when I said that. That's exactly how many consumers feel in the USA. Some of us do know how it works elsewhere and have been patiently waiting for a better plan then we currently have.
The only reason I leave my phone on now is that my current plan offers enough minutes I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off to answer the phone. Back in the days of 50 cents a minute no matter who made the call I never turned it on.
I'd love it if it didn't cost me minutes but I only talk about 250 minutes a month total (No land line) and get 350 anytime minutes.
Actually now that I think of it I'm getting ripped off for 100 minutes (not even counting the 2000 night and weekend.)
Please don't tell me to get Cingular and keep my extra minutes. Here in State College only AT&T seems to give a clean signal everywhere.
I wouldn't mind this if it meant not being charged or loosing minutes when someone called me on my cell. If they want to talk to me let them pay for it. After all I've been paying to hear them.

I've been trying to find something, anything on this breakthrough besides a press release. It sounds like cutting edge neuroscience but I haven't found anything peer-reviewed in any of the journals. I leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions.
No actually they don't take the same voltage. Whether the transformer is a black box on the plug or hidden inside the case they take the house current and step it down to what the individual device needs.
In any event, the little black boxes are all different. If I tried to shoehorn my cell phone into the box for my Palm Pilot I'd fry both devices. If there's a universal standard power brick then that power is wasted for devices that really don't need that much juice. The devices would still have to step down the power or else other devices would be underpowered.
I don't think I have two objects in my house that take exactly the same voltage. It would be wasteful if something used more electricity then it needs just to fit some universal adapter.
which still loads the ads, but then removes them from the page layout
Part of the reason I want to block ads is that I'm on the campus network and restricted to the total amount of bandwidth I'm allowed in a month. If I go over I get cut off. So anything that cuts unwanted bandwidth is good. Anything that forces me to give up precious bandwidth is a really bad thing.
In otherwords if they force too many ads down my connection I loose my connection and they loose a customer. When will they realize forced advertising is a bad idea? (I know, probably never.)
The article is short on properties other then thermal contraction. If it generally behaves like a metal it may be drawn into a wire. Combined with resistive heating it could be used as a crude muscle. Unfortunately that Oxygen in the lattice leads me to believe it's very brittle in the same way that most oxides are, Iron Oxide comes to mind.
Still it may well find itself in nanostructures as a crude muscle where ductility is of less importance.
A good lawyer is like a good mechanic or good OBGYN. You should be comfortable with the Doctor before you have him up to his neck in your coochie. You should be changing your oil with a good mechanic so that he knows you care about the car and doesn't rip you for double when your timing belt slips. I'm not saying to keep a lawyer on retainer but have a relationship with one before you need him. And it doesn't matter which branch of law. If he can't help you he'll know who can and it won't be the guy advertising workmans comp scams on 'Springer'.
Or you can go to Jiffy Lube to save $20 bucks a year and then the mechanic doesn't know you from a hole in the wall. Doesn't think you'll be back after he's done.
And who want's a total stranger looking up their hooches to find that itch.
I know I'm crass but it does get the point accross.
Be careful about the year off timeline. I took a year off after highschool. It ended up being 7 years with nothing to show for it but some fuzzy memories of drinking like a townie.
On the other hand I'm now enrolled in a top 20 Chemistry Ph.D. program. So the moral of my story is even if you do take longer then a year off it probably won't completely derail your education.
From what I hear Jon Bon Jovi is a nice guy. I remember when you couldn't turn on the TV without seeing him. Then I remember when the hair became a joke. This guy has been to the top and slid down to the bottom. Lately he's been working his way steadily back up. I say good for him.
Another reason to like him is he married his high school sweetheart and stayed married through the rise and fall and so far for his second trip up the success ladder.
Anyway this seems like the kind of thing a real musician would do for his fans. Certainly not the lawsuit slinging behavior some other hair metal rockstars have shown their fans.
OK wouldn't this be a moot point if my enemies get my computer offline before the switch is thrown. A better way would be for the software to run off something like FIDOnet with no single weakpoint. Just my 2 cents.
I just remind my wife of the time she bought $300 worth of limited edition Barbie Dolls. That usually buys me a couple more months of the geek lifestyle unfettered.
Good luck getting an accurate reading once per second. I once waited 2 hours for a top of the line Garmin to find 6 out of 12 satellites needed to show position.
I sincerely hope for your sake that the technology has gotten better.
When I bought my computer it came with a free inkjet printer. Now I feel locked in to the technology. Plus it's the only way for the home user to get color printing. I do appreciate the new Epson with individual color tanks. That at least is a step in the right direction.
Judging by his website, Jin Sato is the Mozart of Lego's. That being said I'm intimidated by the complexities of his robots. Add to that the fact that he often uses several identical and expensive sets and you'll find that the average Lego enthusiast can't approach his level of building.

Also isn't it the Monarch Butterfly that deposits 24k gold bands on the outside of it's chrysalis?
I think we as a species are doing a very poor job of taking advantage of some of the biology going on around us.
We're not seeing the forest through the trees so to speak.

No didn't happen for MST3K won't happen for Farscape. SciFi Network has no clue about keeping viewers.

I hope this good news can soon be applied to the rest of the country. I'm ashamed to say I could use the 80 bucks.
On the other hand it will be good for that giant red wine spill in Antartica.

A case of those wrist bands they let you wear to show you're over 21 to drink at the bar. Every color and striping.

Ha Ha Ha... The Young Ones. I loved that show.

So if he had placed at least one banner ad on the website it would have been a commercial operation?
I knew those cats were up to something. Oh well at least the dog isn't trying to manipulate me.
I don't know about any one else but I'd like a functional and high quality piece of software too.
Because what we need in this country is to practice more monoculture with corn.
