Some people are saying apple has had this in their OS for a while. True. SOme people are saying its still amazing because it's a hand held.

Well get this: I bought Microsoft's voice recognition package back in 94. It ran on my 33mhz 486 with 6mb of ram, and worked alright ("close window", "next window", simple commands and sentences). All of this on windows 3.1.

Current hand helds are what, 400MHz with atleast 64mb ram.

I am not aware of any. That doesn't mean there isn't though.

    Why? 2 part.
    1) a more secure use model. Not many apps allow plugins or scripts to run arbitrarilly. However, if they wanted to, I'm sure people could find a way to write to the user's ~/.profile or .bashrc, etc files. Or atleast hijack Mozilla/etc.

    2) Popularity. It's all in the numbers for the people who design spyware. Windows has a significant chunk of the market, and so that is who advertisers target. It's also why I think you don't see many commercials on TV specifically for gay people. 2% of the population isn't a suitable target.

Not saying Linux users are gay, just that both groups are similarly small :)

Of course, they aren't applications you can easily remove through control panel.

If anyone knows the names of some of these, please tack a reply onto this :)

And just why do you need to generate 2048x1536 images on your cell phone? That's twice the resolution of most people's monitors, and well above most quality monitors(1600x1200).

Plus, concidering you're probably going to be sending these images over the 3G network, where you'll be charged by bandwidth, I'd prefer to send a smaller image that gets the point across rather than a 4MB monster.

I don't see the point in anything higher than 1.5-2MP unless you're printing out your photos. They are too large to use as desktop wallpapers, too large to email or put on the web, and I HATE scrolling to see a whole image.

How tough is it to be a master of cell phone? Not too hard. Most of the "advanced" features of a cell phone exist in PDAs these days - reminders, address books, web surfing, bluetooth, etc. So why not combine them?

I concider this a kickass PDA with the feature of being a cell phone too. My only concern is size, it would feel a little odd to hold that sucker to your face, but I imagine most people would use a headset so they could also use the PDA functionality while on the phone.

Also, with that much ram and processing power, does it play MP3s? movies?

Asside from the asthetic of a nice quiet work space and living space, there's a very good reason for a silent pc: Home Theater PC's. Obviously games/etc don't have much at steak, but any product that is intended to have people depend on it (an Operating System, or a rendering package used in Hollywood, etc) should be aware of the dependency its costomers have on it, and yes - it should be held accountable if infact it causes the customers conciderable financial (or health, or whatever) damage.
